Snipped I think this is a bit like when you go into buy some new clothes and they always seem to have a size 10 when you're a size 16, you then slim to a size 10 and they only have 16s! On most sites, most surveys and studies seem to come up fairly balanced between types and genders. The problem is they're not scientific or analytical enough as the raw data isn't refined to enable a reliable study. On rough break downs though it's often not what one would assume. Then again i never looked for anyone online... real life people just tend to gravitate to me. i guess i have "live to serve" stamped on my forehead. That said, they've always found me in vanilla places... so i might stick out a wee bit more. In a mob of competing s-types it might be a different story. I've not been in the situation, but if I were, this would definitely be a thing I would consider a plus - not only would it serve to show socialization but it gives an opportunity to observe from a third person perspective, too. It's a good thought. I have a few of comments on things in this thread. First, auctions. I too have heard the stories. Nope...except for the charity auction or limited time auctions, I have never seen or participated in one either. (I have done or been to a few charity slave auctions.) However, I do come closer than most to ones that have happened. According to a teacher I had years ago, I missed talking to a man from North Africa who had auctioned human slaves. He came to the US and attended the same auction school I did to learn about American style auctions. True or not? No proof except the word of several instructors who said he was there. Second, I know a slave who says she was trained in a house in England and sold to a man who sold her to her current Master of about 15 years. True? Both of them say it is. I know both of them to be generally honest people. That is at least a second hand account and much closer than the first. Given the people, I think it probably is true. Third is that I have heard of slaves changing hands for money and being won or lost on a bet. I am talking offline slaves and I am talking about more than a symbolic amount during a transfer ceremony. The symbolic amount I have done. So....we know slave auctions once existed and did so within the lifetime of a number of us. The last of those as legal public auctions that I know of were in Africa in the 1950's and 60's. I know there are people who train slaves for others. I believe that there are "houses" where a number of people are involved on the training end. I know some slaves have been sold for money. So....what this all comes down to is that my experience and evidence says that there is something out there but no, I can't point to any such place or location. I think you would be better served to meet a potential slave at a local munch, or go to the nearest fetish club and get to know folks. Once you've established yourself in the local BDSM community and the word is out that you are interested in obtaining a submissive, things will begin to happen for you. Also, there are some great online forums pertaining to BDSM where you can get to know like-minded folks both near and far. You never know...you might just find the perfect sub for you!
