bi-polar and submission (31)

i am bipolar as well... diagnosed at age 11, and it's been quite a ride. When i'm well medicated, i'm great, but like most bipolar people, i spent years believing i was "fine" and dropping off my meds. my Sir pays close attention to my moods, sometimes asking to make sure i have taken my meds. i've also learned to monitor my moods myself, although sometimes i don't notice a change until i've gone waaaay off the deep end.
The most important thing is to be open and honest with your Dom about your condition and changing moods. The mood swings can look like disrespect or games (i've had my fair heap of trouble from them), but if your Dom knows, He can act accordingly. I also see a therapist and a Psychiatrist, and although neither of them know the exact dynamics of my relationship with my Sir, they do understand that W/we are together and that i tend to follow Him. While my therapist doesn't always agree with my decision to do so, she accepts it. I know some people would not agree with my decision to keep my participation in the lifestyle out of my therapy, but i have my reasons.
As for support websites... i used to visit www.walkers.org they're not "lifestyle friendly", but it's a good group of people with a variety of disorders, coping mechanisms, and advice. Hope this helps! |
