It's very true that being barefoot has been associated with submission and lower status in history, and often with slavery itself. For example, it was illegal for slaves in Dutch south africa to wear shoes. If it were muddy they wiped on a mat and then kept on coming. Where I live that would be considered very rude, or at least ill mannered. Here it is seasonal as well as situational. For instance, if people are wearing dress shoes they may carry them while wearing boots to a party venue (winter, spring etc) then change to heels/shoes, and if it is dry weather they wear the dress shoes from home to party. It is assumed around here if someone wishes you to leave your shoes on they will tell you, the default is to remove at the door. I am remembering a Filippino custom where you remove shoes at the door and put on provided slippers. I actually liked that one the best because it felt as though there were 'shoes' in their home just waiting for you, you belonged there. Sometimes women who get cold easily bring slippers from home to wear when visiting someone. My place has wood flooring which can be cold, so people do that sometimes and I almost always wear leopard patterened fleece lined black crocs. My subs and slaves (past and future) vary but I generally want them to be comfortably warm so they can wear socks and or slippers depending on the weather. Although i initially was not happy about being sentenced to 24/7 nudity, and especially not pleased about having to go out in public in nothing but a pair of pants, i felt really good about my clothes helping someone in need of them! 9 Feb 12, 9:48 PM 337-147-031 US(CA), 7 mths Y! Much to my surprise, shock, and horror initially, i lost all of my shoes and socks when i first became my Owner's property, and was told that i was agreeing to/submitting to becoming permanently, unconditionally barefoot for life. It has now been nearly 3 years since i lost my shoes/right to wear shoes, and i have adapted to it, even managed to develop pride at becoming permanently barefoot, as a show that i am totally owned, as an undeniable slaveboi! i've even grown accustomed to having to go barefoot in unlikely, unthinkable places! I have usually always went barefoot even when it is cold. Master wishes me to be comfortable. It is no pleasure for him to have an ice cold foot touch him. I am notorious for forgetting to put on footwear when in the Garden or mowing the grass..which has been the only time Master has gotten upset in the opposite ( for me not being barefoot). I now make sure to wear the proper foot protection as Master pointed out I have responsibility to make sure his is protected.
