How risqué, I thought the cardinal rule on boards was to avoid religion, race and politics. Oh well too late now.
In an effort to not produce a lengthy treatise and to address the original topic I will attempt to keep within the cordial boundaries.
In comparison to many nations, America as we all realize is relatively infantile when compared to the cultures the landed immigrants which populate it now are derived. For many reasons America can be compared to many other notably authoritative cultures. It can be considered both a compliment and an insult as one common trait shared between them unfortunately is rise to immense power that produced vast collective cultural arrogance.
A superlative example of this type of behavior OP is the public display of your beliefs,
“if you dont like me because i'm American then screw you.”
you may as well just edit it as such “____ ____ ___ I'm American___ screw you.”
That sort of brashness clearly exhibits the xenophobic bravado bred into American society. So yes, you will see and hear of Americans cloaking their origins in arenas where self-preservation come into the fold, in particular when out of the womb and on foreign soil.
The fact of the matter is that with great power comes great responsibility and that attribute is not what America displays on the global stage. In fact if memory serves me, according to a few studies many would be hard pressed to locate their own country on a globe.
Now within our own borders we can act in accordance with our respective cultures. Problems arise when that respective culture is accustomed to imposing their views upon those that are foreign.
Now before those of you get your star-bangled knickers in a knot, I am not for any purpose attempting to make argument that the US is the devils lair and I have known many nice folk from the states.
It is unfortunate however that the melting pot system designed to incorporate newcomers and give them a proud identity has proverbially boiled over.

I concur, but must add we are unfortunately a culture whose members attempt to impose their views not only on the foreign, but on any fellow citizen who happens to disagree with them in any manner, no matter how trivial. I've watched neighbors almost come to blows over how often a lawn should be cut and what length it should be mowed to. I was glad they were not discussing religious or political views otherwise someone would have been shot. Of course we do come from Puritan stock; people so intolerant that they had to find a new country to live in because nobody wanted to put up with their shit any longer.
I really don't hate America. I simply dislike the attitudes a lot of people in it. Owned, loved and protected by Prolixity.

Disagree - sorry but this just seems a bit of an over-reaction? Wasn't going to mention anything but... How about making like January evenings, and lighten up! |

lol... I like that one.
As far as overreacting goes, though, perhaps... but the post she was replying to was meant to elicit that type of emotional reaction in the first place... don't you think?

Quite frankly I've never had a problem.
In fact people seem fascinated with my accent since it's deeply southern (US... I'm from the Alabama/Tennessee state line) and (or so I've been told) totally fucking adorable and/or hot.
Edited to add: Though within the US I do have to endure the stereotypical 'treat her like she's a fucking idiot until she proves otherwise' but out of the country? Never had a problem I use capital letters as they are meant to be used in proper grammar. No disrespect is intended or meant.

Hello @Mistress_Rebekah, erm, not really, not to me. The way i read it was that it just seemed to be in the same tone and way that @Master_SL always replies. But i guess that's the up side (and the down side!) of life - nobody's reality appears to be the same as anyone else's!
Have a lovely evening and thank you for taking my post in the light-hearted way i intended it! That's been a relief!

902-660-194,
Some pretty thin skin you bare.
Your immoderate words dont solicit a response but I will empathetically do so with great reluctance.
To clear the air, the "tisk tisk" comment was made in jest as a reference to your posting a political type topic. Thus the "race, religion and politics" comment, meaning posts that cover those subject matters tend to flare up with ease. It doesn't surprise me that you would not see the connection and I anticipated you would have such a rash retort.
"misunderstood the whole "screw you" point", I would find it hard to do so as you were explicitly clear and expressed it as such;
“if you dont like me because i'm American then screw you.”
That is a far cry from your current declaration;
"it is more like.. whatever, if you dont like me because of where i live? its not gonna change my life any."
That's like trying to draw a parallel between, "Excuse me" with "Get the fuck out of my way". If you cannot reason the difference then my view is further solidified.
My statement of knotted knickers was to ward off a potential onslaught of comments from other readers that may have perused my post, not directed towards you.
There is no need to apologize to anyone according to your cree so please leave my slave out of it thanks.
In being clear, I did read what you wrote quite well and formed an opinion based on those words. It's obvious you took offense and I humbly apologize for your not being able to see the forest for the trees.
All I have to say, good day.
