I have just deleted this content. It was an ill-conceived thread. I asked who would you have as moderator. Nevermind.
I blame fatigue and too much rum. My most humble apologies.

Nobody would nominate me. I just stir the pot. *evil grin* But I do think there are more good people on here who could moderate a forum than I could name. Owned, loved and protected by Prolixity.

Mine would have to be Dagobert and 096. They both seem to maintain level heads and don't tend to be drawn into conflicts on an emotional level (at least as far as is indicated by their posts anyway) You're amazing, yes it's true, but without me, you're only you.

So if there were to be moderators....
Just curious. If there were to be moderators, and if it was up to the members to 'elect 2 subs amd 2 Doms, who would you nominate? This question is not meant as a 'popularity' contest, but an indication of who members would chose if they had the choice - those who are knowledgeable, moderate in their approach to others, sense of justice, those sorts of traits.
Who would you nominate?
My choices: Super-subs:
SL Precious
333
Naughty
My choices for Dom(mme)s:
Dagobert
Mistress K
Lord Uther
Again, not a popularity contest, nor a 'vote your friends in' thing. Who do you think would see things clearly, addressing things consistently and thoughtfully, and actually help?

I clicked on this thread thinking that it was going to be a discussion about what sort of moderation there should be if it were to happen, and was sadly disappointed when I realised it was actually a discussion about which members other members would choose as moderators.
Again, sadly, this is about the most hypothetical thread I have ever read on TSR, since there was no request by the site owner to elect moderators, nor is it likely that he will make a request of this type any time in the future.
Whilst there are plenty of posters I respect and whose opinions and experience I defer to, I wouldn't be offering their names up as potential moderators no matter how capable I considered them to be for one important reason: I don't believe members of this site who contribute regularly to discussions would be able to set aside their own values and opinions for the sake of a discussion, and this would impact negatively on their ability to 'moderate'.
Of course, any moderator appointed might find that challenging, but they wouldn't have the added complications of having already been part of discussions, or having developed allegiences, alliances or friendships with any members of the TSR community. I believe that impartiality is an essential part of moderation and I can't imagine any of the current members being able to exercise that to the extent necessary to enable them to moderate this forum. As it is, not even the regular contributors can agree on the nuts and bolts of terms such as 24/7, M/s and internal enslavement so how are they going to moderate a forum that uses these terms as its foundation for discussions?
An example of your impartiality Rhua is the names of the members you have given (you asked us for 4 but gave 6 yourself) are all people that you regularly engage with in light hearted social banter on the 'other topics' board, I don't really see you (or anyone else here) being able to overcome or put that aside sufficiently to enable you to moderate the discussions on the M/s D/s board.
Why not just start a thread about who is respected on this site, because that seems to be the true essence of a thread such as this.

I think the boards are moderated fine the way they are with Tanos as the moderator. I like his laid back approach and I do see where threads have been locked on this board within the last month.
Personally, if I don't like the way a discussion board is moderated or who it is moderated by I don't participate. I find someplace else to ponder.
This is just my two cents.
Best wishes,

Even if it were to be a regular member, I see it as a conflict as soon as that member becomes known as a moderator so therefore it should remain anonymous. let us say for example I were to be appointed, I should be given a separate account with mod powers and given strict instructions that i should never reveal that my mod account be revealed as "me" (so as to prevent "buddying up" or any other sort of persuasion tactics)
While I do agree that this thread DOES smack of popularity contests as much as the OP tried to point out that it wasn't. I attempted to pick who in my mind would be the best for the job based purely on their posts. You're amazing, yes it's true, but without me, you're only you.

Unless you're a very 'special' person, you're still going to be influenced by your relationships, whether other people are aware of your 'power' or not. |

No worries. I have withdrawn the topic.

To be honest, I love how you say what you think. If it stirs the pot, so much the better.

Heh... to the two who suggested me as a hypothetical moderator: appreciated but I am probably the most anti-moderation person on the planet. At least as far as deleting and/or editing posts. In terms of making an attempt to set an errant posted straight I am all for it, however! |

Well gee, thanks for the suggestion for me! Much appreciated :P. seriously though, don't fret about making a fatigue / rum induced post - we have all done it I am sure. <SIR
