Acronyms... (18)

As someone who was born and raised in the United States, English is my native language. However, I must admit that I can't keep up with all the acronyms. The first time I saw DDF, TT, WS, IMO, HMU, and LMS, I honestly had no idea what they meant.
On a side note, one of my pet peeves is when I see profiles on adult websites by users who feel the need to abbreviate every word, skip words entirely, or just generally show no concept of the language they're written in. I feel that this is something that needs to change. The fact is, anyone with an account on an adult website should be over the age of legal adulthood, and therefore should have at least a basic understanding of grammar and spelling.
Long story short, is it really that hard to spell things out? Edited 10 Jan 12, 2:07 AM by zwolf59661

WIITWD ? WTF? I have never come across that initialism before. Maybe its in the FAQ. (soft sarcasm)
I would be interested to know what it means.
Incidentally, an acronym is a pronouncable word, such as NATO or radar, whereas WTF, FBI etc that you can't actually pronounce are initialisms. I'm sure you all needed to know that LOL!

WTF? The "initialism" for WIITWD has been around for years, so it probably Is in a FAQ somewhere. (soft sarcasm )
I am sorry you could not decipher the meaning, but with thousands of acronyms and "initialisms" floating around out there, is it surprising that probably No one knows them all?
Usually when I come across one I don't understand, I find the simplest, quickest way to find out is.......ask.
Have a great evening everyone.
Edited: to add a question mark. I must remember to be grammatically correct after all. Too bad that there is a possibility of spelling errors. 333-528-841

Ah so 333-528-841 wrote: "For many here, what it is that we do is a lifestyle", or put more simply "For many here, what we do is a lifestyle".

I guess you might say that although what I would say is:
What it is that we do (meaning whether kink, BDSM, M/s, D/s, O/p or any other word you would like to insert) is a lifestyle choice, or a conscious choice, more of a choice of how one chooses to life their day to day life.

thx alot you all...
And sorry for not knowing the exact meaning of "acronym" in english. Being greek (and that being a greek word to start with) I thought it would have the same meaning as in greek. Namely a word comprised of the first letter of words regardless if it is pronouncable or not.
I guess then R.T.F.M. is not an acronym either right?
|
I think they are the same. nym is name isn't it? A word formed from the first letters of other words.
as for RTFM it is my most frequently used initialism. Another is EBCAK - error between chair and keyboard. Sic volo. sic jubeo. stat pro ratione voluntas

I would guess that @Hawklord is referring to "Read The Fucking Manual" I use the terms Master(male) & slave(female) because that is who we are. Insert all possible disclaimers - my thoughts, my opinions, my experiences, my words. Your mileage should vary. I'm one of "those people." Above all - I believe in Master. I find it's hard to stumble when you are on your knees.

Well I do not know if ISAGTM could be taken for an acronym.... Its impossible for someone to learn what he thinks he already knows...
