I have been in the BDSM community for over a decade, most of that time identifying as a slave. However, I just f ound this site and found it very interesting. Since you asked for suggestions, here are a couple of thoughts I had after digging through the site: - The cups, especially, and some of the other products for sale, would be more meaningful (and worth paying for) if they were personalized with the individuals bar code and number. I would love to have a coffee cup with an owned slave sign on one side and my bar code and number on the other. Even better if the cup was purple and the numberes white or gold. I would also love to buy a similar cup for my owner with the bar codes of all Her slaves on the othere side. While the cups listed are $12, they would be worth a lot more (i.e. I would be willing to pay the cost) to have a personalized one. - I see the reason for making the profile system voluntary and controled by the slaves. However, it would be more meaningful if the site provided an option that a slave could voluntarily sign up for that is not under their control. Where people could post comments about the slave (like Angies List) and if the slave lists themselves with an Owner, the owner maintains control of the site. It could provide an automatic notice to the Owner of an access to the slave's profile (like someone scanned the slaves bar code or input their number and/or made a comment). This Owners site could have a slave exchange, or listing of slaves offered for use with skills and location. An auction function would be fun, if it did not lead to trouble TSR. All this would allow the slave registration to be more than just a cute play item and more of a help in making a real commitment to being owned and controled. After you have looked around a bit and been here for awhile, maybe you will see that many members on TSR are not here for "play" but to read, learn and find common ground with likeminded people. Each registration number is owned by the s who registers. This number is not attached to any dynamic but to the s. Anyone in a relationship follows whatever rules their D/O/M deems appropriate. Some may have control, some do not. Each dynamic is different. For instance, my Master gives me free rein, although he does read everything I post and has my password. If he chooses to log in and read my memos etc, well that is his choice. For many here, WIITWD is a lifestyle or concious choice, being a D/O/M or s/s/p is part of everyday life, just as work, family or even eating is. there are many committed M/s, D/s, O/p etc. couples here. This site is like a safe place for many, where members can communicate with others and be themselves. Although, just like anywhere else, opinions differ and emotions can get in the way, it is a good place to get advise, support or just connect with firneds made over the years. BTW, I do like the idea for the mugs. I like the suggestion about the mugs there too, Bob. As for the profiling system being any different to how it is now..if you consider how you'd feel about a potential for libelous or slanderous comments to be made that you have no control over, on a premise that we remember we discuss 'consensual' ideas here, it perhaps presents a very different picture to the one that you might've had in mind. There have been a few instances here, when relationships have seemingly gone wrong and people have had access to one anothers profiles and done some fairly bizarre things to them, by way of name and shame, and that kind of thing, but that's not what we're about here at all, nor is it acceptable under the AUP. At the end of the day, the single main point of a (subscription) profile remaining in control of an s-type, is for their own protection, in their interest, until they have a basis by which to trust the M-type they're with, as 333 has already discussed. The premise of the site in general though, judging by how your post reads, is quite different to that which you're used to. Take time to read around some old content, and look through some of the profiles on the way. There is a vast amount to be learnt here, and from quite a good bunch of people. And naughty. Anyway, just a couple of thoughts. No website of any kind is going to enable "real commitment" in the real world. That commitment comes between two people, preferably in the same general location, and is sacrosanct between the two of them. The whole point of the slave registrations here is for the SLAVE to register to themselves and not to (necessarily) show how committed they are to a particular master/owner/dom. There are a vast number of slaves (and masters) who operate on TSR completely solo... it is a (usually) warm and open place to discuss things that one can't normally just call a friend to discuss. Personally, I allow Adela to do pretty much whatever the hell she wants on TSR; to interact with (and shoot down if necessary) others without regard to them being an M or an s-type. I may be in the minority, but I see TSR in its current incarnation of users to be a lot more about the slave... and I think that is a good thing!
