Language was not your excuse for everything..now all of a sudden you hide behind this because you were using insulting words,really? i don't understand why you just didn't say "oh sorry i didn't mean it the way it sounded" and leave it at that..but oh hell no, we have to have a full thread about the ways of your country versus others...it is real simple... Please don't say things like that..yes we get your sorry..we understand there is a difference in the way words are used...however you do not seem to have a hard time with the net slang, so why with this? As far as the description of "slut" in your country...i find it irritating to say the least but i am not going to start a thread on how i have slut tattoed to my ass so that there is no mistaking who and what i am..the fact that i am fat has nothing to do with the choice to be a "slut" hahaha its just who i am...so your country views this as a bad thing...i know not to ever go there with my tat hanging out..i get it...now, see how easy that is...you explained it and i understood it and am moving on...it's just that simple. I still regret to offend in saying someone's idea or opinion was stupid....but i never called anyone except myself stupid. One of my greatest culture shock i got from my Master and from USA....was the word "sex" and even worse the word "fuck". In Portugal we have dozen words and expressions to avoid the word sex/fuck. In USA i was constantly shocked of how rude people were saying fuck/fucking all the fucking time * that is how they say not me!!!!!!*...until i realized it was just a word for them. For me is something so very rude and i still have problems in saying to Master "i want sex". Sex word is part of my humiliaton bcs my Master knows the effect it has in me. It makes me feel like a street whore. While if he calls me stupid sometimes as endearment like saying i am a bit silly, goofy and clumsy. It is a word that i do not take offense and i even giggle and play and pretend i am stupid really!. Speaking serious...he knows i am not stupid and i know that he doesnt consider me stupid. Sex words are so ugly in portuguese i do have troubles in hearing them let alone speaking openly about it. It is done only with the bestest friend or in anonymous forums. Me and Master has long negotiate this difference between U/us regarding the sexual words. In humilliation He orders me to use the words but when W/we in a love making act He avoids them. I know when He wants hard time and when He wants soft time. W/we play, laugh, giggle, inventing all the time words to substitute the word sex....we even invent languages. So okay...this was all about bcs i called an idea or act or procedure stupid. And i reached to a conclusion. People that jumps on me on a something so trivial like the offensive word "stupid" are doing something personal to me. I take it. I have two younger brothers, one of them is mentally handicapped. I grew up listening to people call him stupid and retard. It isn't the fact that I just dislike the word. It, in my mind, still demeans my brother. He is actually quite a fucking genius. He may not have all the skills necessary to live alone or something of that nature, but he is none the less a genius. He can tell you things about animals that fucking zoologists don't know. He just focuses different on it than what he does say counting or reading. I honestly think that what you have here is a difference in linguistics. Yes it is still rude to say FUCK YOU in the USA. However, it is in most peoples eyes here even more rude to call someone or something stupid. Sometimes it is the very fact that a word can be societally offensive that gives it a positive power. Two examples are the reclaiming of the word 'nigger' for American blacks and the word 'fag' for homosexuals. Hell, it wasn't that long ago that I had to explain right here on TSR that @princess_adela was called dagoberts_cunt for very much the same reason. Someone earlier mentioned the use of the word 'retarded'. I can't speak for others but I certainly don't picture a mentally handicapped person when I hear that word... instead, I instantly think of something that is "off", or "stupid", or whatever. I agree that does not take away from the fact that many people find the word "retarded" offensive, but when I see the word I do not see it as pertaining to the mentally handicapped. In other words, I -- nor anyone I know -- would call a mentally handicapped person 'retarded'... that word has been displaced by 'mentally handicapped'. Don't forget that imbecile, moron, and mongoloid used to all be MEDICAL terms for mental retardation and have all now entered into the popular lexicon with entirely different meanings. There is absolutely nothing morally offensive about words like 'fuck' and 'cunt'... they both were in popular usage a few hundred years ago and were in dictionaries without the 'considered crude' moniker up until very recently. PEOPLE have made those words offensive for reasons completely unknown. Personally, I find acronyms such as 'LOL' and 'LMFAO' far more offensive than 'fuck' or 'cunt'... but that is probably just me.
