I admit I'd be more interested if they had some kind of organization. It just does not work to gather to protest the inequality in wealth if you have no demands. "What do we want?" "Something!" "When do we want it?" "Whenever!" just doesn't make a good protest chant. They need leadership and a platform, even if it is something as simple as "Hey, the system's broken and it needs to be fixed. We won't vote for those who support the status quo. We need real change and we need it now. We are not going to back down until we get our politicians to listen to us."

I agree; they need to setup what exactly it is they want. If they do not, regardless of what they get it will likely not be enough to please them which would make it pointless for banks and other large corporations to do anything to try to get them to go away. I thought it was funny today where I read a news article that the protesters are accepting credit card donations. Aren't the credit card companies run by the very people they are protesting?
I do not think they are un-American. I think they represent what it is to be American by exercising their right to protest anything. I think that once winter hits their protests are going to slow down or they are going to move south to warmer ground.

Problem is most people don't vote... so they are getting exactly what they did NOT vote for.
In Canada, we are lucky if we get 35% of the population to vote. It is so much easier to get elected when all you have to do is rely on your hardcore supporters who do vote.
I always believed if you did not vote, you were in no position to complain about the situation. It is so much easier to sit on the side lines and complain than take any kind of responsible action and do something about the situation you're complaining about. Nobody, least of all the government, owes anybody a living.
Edited to add: it was pointed out to me, that I should make a clarification of my last paragraph. I was referring to the protesters... the ones who purposely choose not to vote... disrespecting the efforts of those who died to protect our right to vote. To my way of thinking... this group of protesters wants the rights that do with democracy without any of the responsibility. My apologies for not being clearer. "We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. The old skin must be shed before a new one can come." ~ Joseph Campbell

I guess you could call the 'Travellers' occupying the site on Dale Farm in Basildon, Essex, England an 'occupy' although it is a little more complex than that.

I readily admit, I have no idea what they want. Other than generalities. I have no idea why they are so unhappy. I never miss an opportunity to vote, even in small local elections. I vote exactly how Master tells me to and considering that he is the sole supporter of our family I leave it to him to know what choices to make. For the most part, we conveniently have identical political views regardless of it being his choice to decide so it has never been an issue. I have never, ever missed an election where I had any control over getting out to vote since I was old enough to vote. Even the day after I had my appendix out, Master stopped the car on the way home and they sent someone out to allow me to vote from the car. If I'm not happy with who was voted in or what was voted for, it has nothing to do with my participation in the process.
I'm rather fond of the idea of working hard, living within our means, not over spending and not borrowing money from anyone. That seems to work well for us. I have people tell me all the time it's impossible for a family our size to live off one salary. I wasn't aware of that. I think we do just fine. We owe no one (except the mortgage, we do have a small mortgage), we have two children in college (4 years so far without student loans or government assistance) 2 teenagers at home (and 2 adult children on their own who do have student loans but that was before my time), and no one owes us anything least of all the government. If Master decides we need more income he will either work for more or have me work also.
Perhaps if I had an interest in what they wanted or even an idea of what they wanted I would understand better. For now though, I'm happily oblivious. I use Master & slave (M/f) because it's familiar & comfortable to me. I'm wordy & one of "those" people. All disclaimers apply-my thoughts, opinions, experiences & words I believe in Him. Be who you are, say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter & those who matter don't mind-Dr. Seuss

That took 1:49.
I think they have a noble idea. They just need to set down what it is they want and when. They also need a leader.
Being upset about the system is one thing; finding a better way than the one we currently have is what is missing.
Best wishes,

We live within our means as well... no debt - except for modest living expenses. If we do make extravagant purchases (football season tickets, etc.)... we pay cash. We always pay ourselves first by putting a set amount of money in our regular savings and retirement savings accounts each month. It is not hard to do, but you have to deal with the gremlin of instant gratification. "We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. The old skin must be shed before a new one can come." ~ Joseph Campbell
