Greetings AnonMoos....

Malkinius -- It's good to correct some people's oversimplified misconceptions, and many of the Gorean "proverbs" or "sayings" in the books were never intended to be taken 100% literally, but what you've said is not completely true. Elizabeth Cardwell (Vella) was selected on the basis of a 5-minute interview, while Peggy the cloakroom-check girl was taken on the fly as an opportunistic side-target who happened to turn up in the Beverly Henderson operation... |
I will have to double check on both of those tho you are probably correct even tho I will have to check on Vella...it doesn't ring true for her. Peggy I just don't remember. You can add Jason to that list as well. That does not change the fact that the majority of females were chosen as I said which does get repeated even into the newest books. The fact that they were willing to take a chance on someone who is either very available or just feels right can be a factor of training and experience. Gays talk and joke about "Gaydar" or the ability to spot someone who is gay who doesn't look or act it but they just know that they are without knowing how. "Slavedar" works the same way and yes, I have had that happen that I spot someone who turns out to be either very submissive or a slave to someone without any external clues.
| In the Gor books from about #10 onwards, Norman is insistent that pretty much all women have submissive tendencies which can be brought to the surface in the right circumstances (though Gorean slavery is not exactly the same as such submissive tendencies, but is rather a suitable intensification and systematization of them) |
On this point he was almost right. The majority do and the vast majority have some...but then so do the vast majority of me. It is just stronger in females, on the average, than in men. As I said, there are a few at the extremes at each end and I am not considering them having much if any of the opposite characteristic, but they are less than one percent of the population.
| -- and only one woman in the Gor books definitively rejects slavery after having fully experienced it (at the end of book #5). And most of the "strong women in leadership roles in government and business in the books" are brought low before long... |
Are you talking about Verna? That was Hunters, not Assassin. There were a few others who when freed stayed free, but not many. You are, as most do, only paying attention to main or at most secondary characters and ignoring all the background and briefly mentioned references that Norman spread throughout the books.
Malkinius wrote: I hate to say it, but compared to some BDSM groups, such as Leather and other related ones, Goreans are woefully clueless about Consensual Enslavement and slavery and how it actually works. Too many follow the players who think because they claim to be Gorean they instantly know how to enslave someone because all the men in the books were so good at it. What they miss is the years of training and experience Norman talks about to get men to that state and that most book Goreans are not that great at it. |
What many of the over-eager self-proclaimed Gor devotees don't seem to realize is that according to the books, the majority of men on Gor are not warriors, do not own slaves, and spend most of their time in one place (the city or community of their birth), and rarely do much fighting, except when the city or community of their birth is at war. Tarl Cabot and Jason Marshall are semi-freelance warriors, which can be kind of glamorous, but is not typical of what most Gorean men do, and can also be incredibly dangerous...
|
What has that got to do with what I said? While true, it has nothing to do with training from a young age with how to work with and if need be, own a slave. The practice and learning start as children and continues after that. It is sort of like learning how to drive a car. Most people do but not all get a license or own a car. Even those who don't formally learn the skill learn things about driving a car.
Be well....

They may have possibly been discreetly scoping out Vella beforehand (it's not said whether that's the case), but the decision to take or not to take was based on a 5-minute interview at her place of employment (when she was wearing the famous mini-shirt-dress or should that be shirt mini-dress?)...

Verna was freed, and then turned down the chance to be Ubara.
I was referring to Sura...

What it has to do with is the fact that many who first encounter the Gor books (or worse, on-line chat-rooms without even reading the books) unfortunately imagine themselves to be instant Tarl Cabots in every aspect...

Back to the thread. I agree with Malkinius to some extent because there really are a lot of subs who call themselves slaves when they are clearly not. The test is of course that a slave is owned and has no freedom. No freedom to say no, or do as she wishes or disobey any command whatsoever.
|
*snipped*
I do understand your pov @Hawklord but feel it important to say...
... 'some' slaves (those with owners) are allowed that freedom; to discuss all manner of things in whichever way they choose and in any way they wish on these boards. This does not mean their dynamic is any less authentic or strict than those who are not owned or not 'allowed'. If you believe it does then this should surely be taken up with the owners/masters?
Also, for those 'potentials' who are unowned or unmastered, this is an open space that does not require regulation of spirit or censure... just honesty and a measure of regard for all others here, regardless of status... and each individual will follow their own path, though surely should not be disregarded in any way for it (imo).
So, to view this pot of hot things as being less than it should/could be may be correct in your view @Hawklord (and likely many others) but the fact is it is 'open season' here in some respects and, for myself, I hope remains thus.

She was also hoping for fellow female slaves for friendship and socialization. How many of you fit her criteria? the answer - two. Sadly she did not get any of the information she desired. |
I respectufully disagree with you, *I* DID find it vague and requested clarification. The OP did not see fit to answer. I personally am under no obligation to "nurture" a new member who chooses not to reply to questions asked of her. There was a huge amount of applicable information included in this thread from far more than two people. I have always believed that "valuable" includes things one wants to hear as well as the things one does not want to hear. In my opinion one who only wants a specific type of answer should go to a specific forum that caters to that type of answer.

I am being considered for a household. I would love to get first hand feedback from Gorean Girls (if owners allow). Looking for information on how they feel inside, emotionally. Do you have Gorean community near you, if so, do you get emotional support from sister slaves?
|
Gorean girls feel different emotionally than any other person does? I'm not sure I understand the question. What type of feedback are you seeking? Could you be a bit more specific about what you are asking please? Your OP was generalised about Gor but further posts indicated an interest in Middle Eastern cultural relationships. I do not have any family members in the same type of lifestyle I participate in so I do not personally use the term "sister slaves" and can offer no insight or opinion on that. My apologies, but I am confused and would appreciate a clarification of the OP. Thank you.

I have been looking for some good NON FICTION reads myself. I feel like I was born to live in a culture like the Middle East, because I feel that men should be superior to women. They can be caring, loving and thoughtful, but superior and direct. This culture does not understand nor tolerate that frame of thought. But it should be a viable way of life, without stipulations and modern laws. If a women chooses to give herself into the Gor life, the rest of the world should BUTT OUT.

This is NOT a Gorean forum nor is it a forum of Middle Eastern Cultures. This is a generalised forum of many types of dynamics, this is NOT the place to learn only of Gor. The statement in this post does not appear to me to be a question of any kind. No where did the OP indicate she was seeking friendship or socialization. She made it clear that if she wanted to do something then the rest of the world should "BUTT OUT." That doesn't leave any room for discussion about her OP especially when she chose not to reply to direct questions nor did she ask any additional questions of her own. Regardless of what any other person posted on this thread the OP had a choice to continue her discussion as best as she could, she did not make that choice. As you are considering her, you also had a choice to continue to direct the thread in the direction you desired and chose not to.
She also felt it appropriate to insult one of the first few people who responded to her:
744-081-355 wrote:
Slave Emma, while the books written by John Norman are fictional, there are people who live that lifestyle. There are also Middle Eastern cultures that live somewhat as this as well. (Behind the Vail, cant remember the author).
I hold thoughts of a master in much higher reguards than a nilla husband. Im not knocking marraige, but for me, its too vanilla world.

I saw no reason to further participate in the discussion after that especially when the OP responded only to the "lesson posts." At that point it appeared *to me* to be some type of game. In *my opinion*, there is absolutely nothing Gorean about game playing. If the OP intended to be taken seriously as an aspiring Gorean slave, then in *my* opinion she should have behaved as one. The type of posting she did here would NOT have been tolerated in the Gorean Forums *I* participate in. There are many Gorean related posts and responses in these forums that are taken seriously, this thread was not nor does it appear *to me* that it was intended to be.
In *my* opinion, Gor is NOT a nurturing community nor should it be. The best advise she received throughout the thread was to READ THE BOOKS. If she had chosen to reply to my questions or had asked more direct and clear questions herself, I would have gone so far as to advise her to read them from start to finish no less than THREE times before making any kind of decision at all about joining a Gorean household. She never indicated if she has even read one book yet or not so why would anyone Gorean assume she was actually interested in Gor at all.
And finally, as the OP and the household she is being considered for are in different states and this is not a 24/7 live in relationship, the thread has been reported and requested to be moved to the "Other Topic" board where online relationships should be discussed.

This subject is something she does know alot about as she lives this lifestyle...she was only defending the posters on this thread. i suppose i am just confused at your obvious irritation when she was just trying to help...

HaHa ... you don't miss a trick do you LU
I agree with you completely naughty, this isn't the first time this little darling has graced us with her useless snide comments.
perhaps if she sat on her hands and paid attention to 096 ( and to you LU ) she may actually learn something.
have a good evening all *bows to the royal court*
