What book, movie, or website most influenced your first impressions of what Owner/slave was about?

Or was it something else that influenced you?

How has that changed as you started living as a Owner/Property?

I'm not sure I should reply to this or not as I am really only just starting to find my feet.

I'm still discovering, still learning. It will take time. Please bear with me.

Thanks x

I am glad you answered this. We are all still learning and discovering new things. Even if we have been in the lifestyle for years or just a few months. We never have everything figured out. If we did, it wouldn't be much fun would it? lol

I have never heard about that site but thank you for sharing :) What interested you about the chat room? I guess I am having a hard time figuring out the correct question I want to ask you...What specifically made you click with it and find the interest to explore the lifestyle deeper?

I have read that book too and as harsh as it was. I liked it. Most books don't take me that long to read but The Story of O took me forever because I felt a deep emotional connection to it and I had to stop reading so I could collect my thoughts and feel the emotion deeper than I had any other books I have read.

Hello to all of you. I am new here and this is my first post so please be gentle. I have always know that i was sub..i have always lived my life trying to please others before myself, but i never really knew this lifestyle ever existed until just about 8 months ago. I started on a BDSM website and I found my Master. It was never my intentions to ever be owned by anyone, i just wanted to be a sub..but after "meeting" Him and exploring with Him, i realized that i wanted to serve Him..to be controlled and owned by Him. i have a lot of learning to do yet, which is why i love these posts, you guys on here are teaching me how to be a good slave and what it takes physically, mentally, and emotionally to do just that...so THANK YOU! if there are any good books out there i welcome the suggestions.

My husband-come-sub influenced me, I suppose. Although a naturally dominant personality, I didn't know ANYTHING about M/s dynamics... I knew a little about BDSM but I figured it was mainly just porno that people watched... or a power-play that was strictly in the bedroom... I had NO idea that there was such a thing as "consensual slavery" and people that engaged in it... so when he introduced me to various websites I was shocked but intrigued/ delighted at my "discovery" ;)

I think if I were to read books, etc., I would spend my time comparing my own relationship to whatever I read and then end up disliking the book because it wasn't anything like what I am/ have/ do... (not that I dislike other people's lifestyles... I respect "to each their own"... but when reading a book I always try to visualize/ empathize, etc., with what I'm reading).

I read various websites, particularly journals when I was learning about the lifestyle. I read about the lifestyle for about two years before becoming actively involved in it. Since anything I would have read was published 12 to 10 years ago, it has proven to be impossible to find. I think what was interesting to me about it was the lack of conflict and the presence of a strong leader.

I think the reality versus what I read was much different. Finding the right person to give control over was not like what was portrayed. It was much more difficult in the beginning and took some trial and error. It has been amazing to me thinking back on it because now that I am in a stable relationship, my life correlates a lot more with my initial reading. Granted it is a little different because my life structure is mandated by my Master but overall I live a conflict free life and I know who rules the house.

Best wishes,

My only real influence has been my own relationship, as I've never been in an O/p dynamic before this one and really had no knowledge of anything M/s, O/p, BDSM, etc. related except sometimes there a relationship had a little spanking and bondage in the bedroom. It's been a journey of discovery ever since because I have no idea how I got to "submissive." I've been exploring past memories lately and realizing that I'm pretty dominant in regular life. I always made friends with the kids I could tell what to do, got my way with my parents and brother, and ended up briefly marrying a guy who was more of a doormat than an equal partner in the marriage. So, I can only conclude that I found someone who could tame me, pull my submissive side to the front and with his influence strengthen it and keep me under control. And since we have been together, I've been all over the internet exploring and researching everything possible on the lifestyle. I've never read "The Story of O," the Gor series or any fictional account of M/s. I'm pretty much tuned in to factual information versus fictional accounts. I have nothing against fictionalized accounts; I simply have no interest in them personally.
