I know this must sound strange, does any one out there ever get the feeling something bad happened, I have a feeling that one of my friends or some one I know is in destress....The only other time I had this feeling is when my father passed away and I found him in the bedroom. So how many people think this is a real sense?

I believe that some people have this ability. Twins are a prime example.

Saying that, I have known things were wrong in the past, or something bad had happened, with people either physically close or emotionally close to me. Hasn't happened much since I was in my early 20's, but from 16-23 it was more frequent.

I think this thread may be better in Other Topics, unless of course you meant the question in an O&P capacity. ;)

Personally I think that so called Extra Sensory Perception is actually perception from our normal senses. We are not always aware of the power of our senses, especially the olfactory and vomero-nasal.

We can smell fear, pain, joy etc.

This is not exactly what you asked. I believe a very sensitive person can make predictions about someone with very little information, but there must be some information.

English is not my first language. For many here it is difficult to express their feelings. If I make mistakes, please tell me.

Yes it is really strange, like the nite my father died I knew something was wrong, I kept on seeing the number 123 and the day I was let go at my old job of 20 years, I saw the clock on the wall and it said 1:23 pm, now I have the same feeling in my gut like there is something wrong. It is fustrating not to react when you cant.

Intuition. It's that gut feeling that people have stopped being able to hear. There is too much "noise" in our daily lives, everything comes at us... media, advertisements... yadda yadda. It makes it difficult for most people to just exist in the now and be aware.

We'd make horrible cave people. Cave bears would be standing over us breathing down our necks and we'd not notice until it was too late.

Anyway, what i'm getting at is we all have that ability, i believe. i think most people don't trust it enough, or can't hear that internal voice because we've been conditioned not to use it.

Personally, i try to feel every bit of now that i can... and follow "that feeling" where ever it leads me. i've never regretted trusting myself, but i sure have kicked myself for not listening.

That could be true for some, but my experiences have been somewhat different. I don't usually speak of them but to give a few examples:

When I was 17, a girl I worked with, was sitting next to me having coffee. I suddenly had a bad feeling and blurted out that she was making me feel bad, I had a bad feeling as I stood or sat next to her. Anytime, I was near her that day, I had a sense of dread and sadness. She asked me finally what exactly I felt. I wasn't sure I told her, just that it felt like something bad had or was going to happen, like a death or accident. I really freaked her out.

The next day, she came running into work and said that she couldn't believe it, when she had got home, her pet parrot was dead in it's cage. Yeah, I know, sounds corny but true!!

Another example is one night when I was 21, I dreamt my grandmother was standing at the end of my bed. When I asked her what she was doing there, she just said, she loved me and everything would be OK. When I woke up I remembered this dream and knew I had to call home. I phoned home to no answer, several times before my dad answered. I asked for my mom, and he told me that she had left the day before, for the U.K. She had a call that my grandmother was not well and then told me, that my grandmother had died overnight shortly after my mother arrived.

In both these examples, I had no knowledge whatsoever. My grandmother had been fine, I hadn't spoken to my parents for two weeks. As for my co worker, I didn't have a clue she had a parrot, lol.

Just sharing....a different perspective on it. ;)

Personally I have no doubt that some people have to ability to know of something that is going to happen. I have lived with the situation most of my life.

My farther would see things in is mind that had yet to happen. In one case he was in the Royal Marsden Hospital in |London After having an operation for censer when he had bad difficulty in breathing. But when his consultant came along my farther told him that there was no point in giving him oxygen as it wasn't him that had the problem; it was hid uncle in another hospital!

After taking detains from my farther the consultant contacted the other hospital and it was confirmed that my furthers uncle nearly suffocated due to his bad lungs. My farther had his breathing problem at the exact same time as did his uncle.

Another situation. My mother has graphic details do the Forklands conflict write down on paper. My farther wrote them down two years before the conflict started. The last statement, stats they are all in the church! And my farther drew a picture of the small Church in question. At the end of the conflict all of the hostages were found to be in that Church and the picture although being some what crowd did mach.

Another time he drew an out line of the front end of a ship. Two funnels and QE written on the front. We just said; the QE 2 (As in the Queen Elisabeth the 2nd) My farther said it's not the QE 2. Its people in trouble on Monday. When we turned the radio on the next morning, we herd on the news that at 5 minuets to 4 the QE 2 went and made a rescue on an oil rig on that morning!

A physiologist would probably say that when having your futcher told your sub-concurs will always try and justify the out come. In other words; you want it to cone true! And in a lot of the cases they would be correct. The same goes for someone hearing voices in there head. Is that person psychotic? Or can they realy hear a ghost or spirit telling then something?

Every one has their own thoughts. Some people believe; some don't. I'm not the religious type. I don't go to Church every Sunday. But personally I do believe in ghosts and spirits. I could probably right a book on things that I have witnessed over my life that can't easily be explained.

But as far as I am concerned. Some things, some people can sense !!

Real or unreal, it is a feeling I know many experience and often find proven true — though I accept that the 'true' part could be just our subconscious choosing to ignore all the times such feelings led us astray.

Whether 'the sight' (that's what my family have always called it) is a curse or a blessing, however, I don't know. I never could decide.

I'm sorry to disappoint you all, but this kind of phenomenon has been exhaustively tested under controlled laboratory conditions and found to be nothing more than an illusion.

It's called confirmation bias.

I will have to agree to disagree with you on this. No test of this type is conclusive, definitive proof will never be forthcoming. I believe in miracles too, so it really is an infinite argument. ;)

Kind of like that old saying "Never say never."

Enjoy your evening.
