NO, neither of us are on the PTR's, Phay did the PTR for TBC and found it so choppy with crashes and resets and such that she gave up in the end and decided not to bother; we came to a conclusion that with Cat, it would be nice to see things all clean and sparkly, when they actually get round to finshing and releasing it..if ever...

Right now it is just the new mechanics. I haven't seen any world changes yet. This is what we will be seeing a couple of weeks before Cat releases. It is....interesting. It is also kind of fun working without all the addons I am used to using. Going back in some ways to vanilla or at least as I played it when I started.
Be well....

Oh totally.
My girl and I have been playing WoW since late '06. We were on the EU servers and just switched to the American servers last month. ^_^ We're hard core RPers and we love raiding.
I'm also on Guild Wars and Second Life. ^_^
And we can't wait for Star Wars; The Old Republic!!! Owner of 465-186-919. My beautiful wife and slave <3

From a complete ignoramous...
I'd love to play online, but I want to play ON MY OWN. I'd like to be able to wander around, find treasure, become a legendary healer (specs. notwithstanding) and STAY OUT OF TROUBLE. Nothing complicated, just all at my own pace (extremely slow) without getting killed, involved or bullied.
Is this possible? Please help, even if it's to say 'no'. My dreams may be shattered - ces't la vie 'We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are' Anais Nin

Of course it is. You can do almost everything in the game on your own. Just about the only thing that is hard is to do Dungeons and Raids do have to be part of a party. If you want to heal, healers are always in demand for groups. If you want peace and quiet, play late at night for your time zone or the server's time zone. Things can be empty and lag low. You really can work you way up at your own pace. WoW has many amazing places to discover. Many beautiful ones as well.
Get a trial account, the free for 10 days one, and give it a shot. You will waste only the time to download the client at the worst.

Actually, I'd suggest adding to that a single month's subscirption, simply because Blizz elected to leave some small but very important features out of the trial version that even solo players would need, like acess to mail for example.
That being said, Malkinius is right in suggesting you can do quite a lot in the game on your own, even a very great deal if you pick the right class.
But heck, no matter what you try to do, someone will always try n come along to spoil your on brand of fun; in one of the festivals, they even managed to break all the tables and chairs needed to get an achievement.
Odd part was that said chairs were part of the graphics, not part of the game-play itself.
Have fun if you decide to take part; it's a big world in there!
Regards,
Sean. |

Thank you Malkinius and Sean. I'm going to try it, though I feel a bit nervous about it - which makes me laugh at myself! He has no interest in games such as this, so it's not something we discuss.
Did anyone hear about the woman in Kent recently who became addicted to online gaming? Her 3 small children were eating the food out of any tin can they managed to open and her dogs had starved to death, apparently.
