TSR : Web boards : Website help : "Ads." 1 2 3
Ads. (25)
This post is on the Website help web board.
Mon 30 Aug 10, 4:26 PM Sir_Aldric 5 yrs |
The ongoing fact occurs that people place ads on web boards, which each time results in the same predictable reactions from many good TSR users. I wonder: sometimes one just has to accept that the river wants to flow in specific way, instead of continuously trying to bend it towards a different direction.
So, in order to approach this problem from a different angle: maybe it would be a good idea to make under "Web boards" a new "-Drop an Ad" forum, where everyone can just drop whatever ad they like to share. In such case these ads stop being annoying, since they have got a place of their own. It might even be fun to look around there, also those who are not interested in ads will not be bothered.
From my own experience as programmer I think this would just be a small step to do, since it is just copy&paste from the current TSR forum set-up.
Just a creative thought..
Sir Aldric
P.s. in case Tanos goes along with this, let the first tread be: "Sir Aldric is looking for a harem, 25 vacancies available.."
Relax, life is too short to get upset.

Thing is, people'd still put them on the wrong board. If they can't read the AUP or the line in bold at the top of each new thread started, they might miss the name of the board too.

I'm actually coming to a similar conclusion, but I think they're doing it cos they want to be yelled at and abused. They're getting their rocks off on it. My name is Lord Uther, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!

Sadly it can never be stopped completely. If you create a personal ads section people will use it but always others will just abuse the rest of the site with spam adds.

But then there wouldn't be anyone to yell at and half our members would be sad.... oh wait, we still have the "how dare you post this when this has already been discussed!!" crowd
Seriously, i think it's a fine idea
898-443-818 i am a slave-i have no rights, no safewords, i do not say "no" to my Master. i do not have "limits". i have entered into consensual slavery, so that may help explain the views in my post.
