Moving to 24/7 collar. Master has concerns about sleeping in it. Any Advise? With courage you will dare to take risks, have the strength to be compassionate, and the wisdom to be humble. Courage is the foundation of integrity. - Keshavan Nair

girl wore a red pet, leather collar for a long time. should be fine, just make sure that it is always dry when you go to bed, else you may get a rash. also make sure it is not too tight. it has a habbit of sitting just on the throat when you sleep, and it may feel restricting. (for girl, the first bit, she got a sore throat because of this)
depending on how high it (width), be careful to have it a bit looser perhaps at night than during the day, as the edges will scratch untill it is softened. usually within a few days (if you keep it on 24/7) it will be more comfy.
hope this helps

562 gives good advice... all I can add is that my slave does not wear a leather collar 24/7 because leather expands and contracts, can hold moisture like water, sweat, may chafe, etc.
I prefer steel collars because of this. She has worn a steel Eternity collar 24/7 for over 4 years - even in the shower, ocean, pool, gym, with no issues whatsoever besides the occasional removal to pass quickly through airport security or polishing.
Sometimes I do use leather collars for short-term wear or particular scenes/events, but after that it's back to the steel collar for full-time wear.

I have a 24/7 collar, the leather collar would only be worn at specific times or places - so, would not be worn every night, just occassionally. Hope this clarifies. I don't wear a leather collar (mine is made of aluminum chaimail, but once I can get hold of steel rings will be swapped out for those), but I would suggest following the same sizing guidelines as for dogs. You should be able to fit two fingers between the collar and your neck to allow for the leather to expand and contract without constricting your breathing. His Beloved

This post has probably been edited for spelling/grammar because I'm weird like that.

Greetings pet....
My slaves have worn the leather collars I make while sleeping many times. I don't know that I would trust most pet collars or the things they sell most places. For long term use the collar must be lined with a soft lining, preferably a leather one. I use deerskin. The other poster was right about the edges which is why I bevel or sort of round mine. That way they don't chafe as much when new. The comment about the two fingers is a good one as is making them adjustable so you can let them out a bit if you need to do so without removing or replacing them. There is a type of buckle which has a hole in the tongue that you can put a lock in to lock the collar in place.
The real comfort problem is often the lock. It is a lump that can be uncomfortable until the slave gets used to it if they lie on it. A small lock is better for that reason than a large one. Remember that the lock only has to keep the collar closed, it should not need to support any weight or have to hold against hard usage. The small Master locks that are just larger than luggage locks work very well for this.
From my experience a well made leather collar can easily be worn for days at a time with no problems. It does help if about once a month you clean the inner layer with saddle soap and then a leather conditioner if you want to keep the lining soft. If not...then don't.
I will note that if it is made from oil tanned leather it can be worn in a shower but try not to keep it immersed in water. Just dry it off quickly if it gets that wet.
Be well....

I wear my collar (leather) when I sleep, every night without exception. Further to that I wear my collar at all times while in the house-only my collar , actually- and to not wear it would, in my mind, be disrespectful to my Master. I leave it just loose enough to get 2 fingers between it and my neck! |

i wear my collar 24/7. Leather with aluminum band that has the word BOY engraved into it. After having worn it for many weeks at a time to 1 get it softened, as well as stretched a tad bit, the collar is very comfortable.
When i feel that i need to let it breath for a while, i let my Masters know, and one of them will change my collar to either another leather collar that i love (3/4" wide with spikes, lockable) and i wear it. And at times, i wear my chain collar 24/7. This is the type that is a choker type collar that is for dogs, but the padlock goes thru the 2 ends, and its not set put together for choke.
While my leather collars are very comfortable, so is my chain collar. BUT the big difference here is that my chain collar can be put in the dishwasher to get the dead skin etc off the links. |
