I would welcome the chance to have some sort of dialogue with a master as i am looking to finally venturing into being a master myself but have no practical experience.

I have read all sorts on the subject but would welcome the chance to talk to a practising master to help me learn more about the real aspects of ownership.

Still new to this site and could very well have missed the appropriate section of the board to post this on. If so, please accept my apologies. (is there a "new to the scene" area of the site where people like me can go and not feel silly for being so green behind the ears and learn through discussion?)

In Our opinion, your best bet is to get out into your local community and see if there's someone there you click with. You can also attend conferences and things of that nature across the country. Also, look for a local MAsT chapter.

"Training" things http://butchmanns-experience.org/ http://masterslavetraining.org/home.htm

The above are the Ms-specific events We know about and have attended. There are many, many more events and things. A google search might help you.

**The power of who we are can be intoxicating.** **The power of who we could be is humbling.** **Yet, we are assured we are exactly as we should be.**

After reading all that posted above, read some more. Listen to what people have to say and take from it what you will, from websites, books, and if you are lucky a R/T Master to train you. That is how I started, but I went the Old Guard way. I started in collar. I spent a year in collar to My Master (who was a very respected individual in the area, and known as a Professional to everyone else I talked to.)and I found out who and what I was. I hope you find something simuliar. I am NOT saying "take a collar" is the ONLY way to go, but it helped ME immensely.

Good luck on your Journey,

Umbramajoris

I read the above posts, had a look at the profile of Umbramajoris and read to my big surprise the following:

Profile of Umbramajoris

Reposted without permission, but I felt like it should go on My profile as I see it fits what I think/feel about a relationship in BDSM. (Thank you Sir Aldric! Kudos to you.)

1. A Master should be humble enough to realize that he should be worthy of having a slave.

2. A Master should realize that within a relation the slave is of equal importance as he is.

3. A Master should realize that it will be his responsibility to keep the M/s relation in balance.

4. A Master should realize that he will be responsible of the physical and mental well-being of his slave.

5. A Master should realize that he MUST guide, control, teach his slave.

6. A Master should realize that he must earn the respect of his slave. Being Master is hard work; it is not about messing around.

With that said, Welcome...

Ok.. that was a surprise.. :)

I had to laugh out loud; I especially liked the "Reposted without permission" a lot ;)

Umbramajoris, you can change that into: "Reposted with permission." No problem, I feel honored that you share my views too.

If more people want to copy & paste from whatever I wrote here, no problem whatsoever, although it would be appreciated if I was informed and did not stumble over it myself.. ;)

Back to the original topic: yes, reading anything you can get your hands on is the best strategy. Learning from others, their mistakes, problems and successes will point you in a good direction. A Master always needs to learn and must be humble enough to learn; the learning curve never ends for a truly good Master.

And when you feel confident enough, you just jump in the water. That water is not dark and cold; it is warm and comfortable. Just remember to be humble enough to keep learning and polish your Master personality ongoing. With always good intentions towards your slave. Never forget you solely are responsible for their mental and physical well-being. It is hard responsible work; read the above statements to get an idea of what is involved.

Find your balance in life.
