Do you "buy/sell" for real? (71)
This post is on the M/s D/s O&P web board (moved from Internal Enslavement).

Would you turn someone in "offering" to sell you a slave over the internet? Or would you "sell/buy" a slave knowing it is illegal in 90% of Countries on this Planet? HAve you ever been offered such a deal, that didn't seem "consentual?" Just curious...

I'd hope that no one here would have anything to do with that kind of non-consensuality.
The people who talk about doing it (invariably wannabe buyers) always sound like fantasists to be honest.

Well.....I can say that I have sold two slaves I owned to their new owners. The first was on her wedding night to her new husband. The second was a few months later to her fiance whom she moved in with. In that case, the money changed hands before she actually moved but that delay was only for work reasons. So yes, you can say that I have done so.
Now, in each of those cases the transfer was worked out and agreed to by all parties including the slaves in advance of the "sale". So, was this a real purchase or was it a bit of theater involved in the transfer from one owner to another? I will note that only the new owner and I know how much money, and it was real money, changed hands.
Be well....

I say it's theatre because the actual sale of one individual by another would have to exclude any right/ability of the person being sold to call an end to the entire thing if she or he so desired - from both a legal and practical standpoint.

I would definitely put that on the fantasist side of the dividing line, rather than the realist one, for the same reasons as Eva.

this question brings me to the age old tradition of one party paying another to be wed.
this is still a tradition that is existing, ongoing and not against the law.
although not quite the same as buying and selling slaves, this girl does know and has lived through instances where the husband 'did as he wanted with the woman' as he 'paid his dues' for her.
how about the 'russian brides' that can be picked from catalogue?
perhaps it is just this girl who would class them together to some degree...but it does make her wonder.
again, in her Second Life, there are the Gorean RP which is taken rather serious as the money exchanged there can be converted back to Real USD. this girl sees many many many slaves running away, or getting emotionally hurt by slave-traders - and although this girl mentioned Gor, know that there are BDSM and Fetish groups that trades in slaves too. this however, (other than the Gor set ups) is consensual.
even in a virtual world though, where this sort of thing happens and should all be a bit of role play and 'fun', this girl serves as a councillor and spends many many many many many many many hours consoling and trying to help the 'victems' of trades back on their feet. these trades has an impact on their real lives, real finances, real emotions, real physical bodies; again, as stated in another post, this girl shudders to imagine what an inpact this has on a person in emotionally, physically etc. when such things are done outside of the fantasy, make believe communities such as SL. We are all vanilla to some degree - for society will keep a foothold in our lives. We are all Dom/mes or slave/sub on some level, as there is ALWAYS someone weaker or stronger than you...

Well being a former Police Officer Myself I just don't want to believe that someone would consent "truely" to being sold. The "fantasy" of selling and buying like Gor, I can see the appeal. (Since I Myself have read the books and DO incorporate "some" aspects of Gorean in My lifestyle.) But this World is NOT Gor. I would hate to think someone could come into My home and make Me a slave to be bought and sold.
(Like they wouldn't pay dearly in equipment, men and blood first!)

At the risk of being controversial, I have to say I like the idea of being able to buy and sell slaves. If I have people on my property I use as slaves (which I do), the idea of trading in them seems a logical step to me.
However, like it as much as I might in my own mind, I can't see it ever happening, at least not in the Western world, so it's not something I really have to think about too often ...
Shame though ... |

You would be amazed at what gets bought and sold every single day.
This month Vancouver, BC Canada will be hosting the Winter Olympics... one of the top policing issues (3rd or 4th on the list) is the human trafficking of women to supply the sex trade in order to serve the influx of Olympic visitors the city is expected to have. Unfortunately, emphasis will be placed on security issues and not a lot of effort will be put into cracking down on human trafficking.
Did you know, traffic enforcement (parking of cars) is higher on the list than the selling of human beings... go figure huh! With courage you will dare to take risks, have the strength to be compassionate, and the wisdom to be humble. Courage is the foundation of integrity. - Keshavan Nair

I do feel amazed at what IS going on these days with HT, but why not make it legal, for like "prisoners who have a Life sentence", THAT would help with the over crowding of jails...I mean technology exists that "could" help in the control of the slaves. (not to mention bolster the coffers of many States and Countries in need of new revenue.) Now I could see THAT. Not to mention DROP the criminal rates to nothing flat. LOL!

There was much research done in the late-90s by the United Nations Labour Organization to support the legalization of prostitution around the world, as it was felt that it would curb the sale of young girls into prostitution from the third world, particulatly those from Southeast Asia. Quite a lot of work was done to look at the impact on those economies should prostitution be legalized. However, feminist organizations around the world, particularly first world countries like Canada, USA, UK and Australia killed it before anything could be done. Their major concern was not for the girls in these countries, but a fear that this would lead to legalization of prostitution in places like the USA. In Canada, the act of selling yourself is actually legal. It is the solicitation for the purpose of prostitution that is illegal. Lastest figures I have seen for Olympic prostitution estimated that 1 in 4 girls are in the sex trade as a result of human trafficking. Most will be working out of escort services. Very little of the prostitution done in Vancouver is on the street anymore (on an aside lower eastside is exception and as a skid row area it is one of worst in North America), 75% is done via the numerous escort services and massage parlours.
Personally, I think it is time it is legalized. There is no police will to enforce existing laws and no public out cry unless of course it is in your backyard so to speak. Given what we have recently experienced in Vancovuer regarding the serial killer Robert Pickton, I think sex trade workers would be much safer and better served by policing agencies if their profession was legal, rather than having the girls remain marginalized and in the shadows of society.
Don't you think it is about time? With courage you will dare to take risks, have the strength to be compassionate, and the wisdom to be humble. Courage is the foundation of integrity. - Keshavan Nair
