Here are some interesting details about slavery, historic and modern.
Of some interest is the monetary value of a slave. See the number 1 item.
While I have nothing but condemnation for forced, involuntary slavery, I put forth that our understanding of historical slavery is grossly inaccurate.
I am Remoses. Just because it's inconvenient, doesn't mean it's not required.

Let's be honest. It takes a tremendous amount of time and dedication to train and maintain a slave. Locking a slave up in a cage when you're not using him is just a hot fantasy that is OK for a week end, but not for life. A slave who is not properly cared for will either have a mental breakdown or rebel (or both). In short, the master's investment is huge, so, if you're doing it right, you must value the slave a good deal. Perhaps more than anything. So, stop the posing, guys. |

I found item #1 interesting. I received a recent report from Canadian government, Dept. of Justice on human trafficking yesterday. There seems to be a new and serious trend in terms of human trafficking... the domestic slave trade. Where previously human trafficking was a migration issue with slaves being transported across international boundaries. This is no longer the case. The current trend shows slaves being recruited within our borders and sold across provincial/state boundaries. The reported cause of the increase on domestic slavery, the poor economic conditions people are faced with.
This also reminds me of a recent news item that came across my desk as well. A man in the USA was convicted of human trafficking of a woman (bought girl for purpose of using her in sex trade). He was given a 25 year sentence. The cost of the girl, it appears, was $1,800.
I reported it somewhere else on these boards under another post, but human trafficking is third largest money making crime, right behind the selling of drugs and weapons. I am not surprised by the slavery numbers provided in item #1 in the least. With courage you will dare to take risks, have the strength to be compassionate, and the wisdom to be humble. Courage is the foundation of integrity. - Keshavan Nair

Well, I know this is all consensual and we all do it for fun (at least I and my slaves do), but part of the game - which we 'play' very seriously - for us is that I regard them as my actual property on my farm which I refer to as my 'plantation' for BDSM purposes. They are owned by me in just the same way as I own my two labrador dogs.
This has a number of implications.
As their owner, I am totally responsible for their health and welfare while on my property. I am also responsible for feeding and watering them, for walking and exercising them, for cleaning and grooming them, and for seeing that they 'do their business' regularly. I am talking about both my slaves and my dogs, as I treat them all in the same way. They also all wear identical collars and tags.
As to value, I keep a 'Stock Book,' in which I list all the animals I own, which include thirty-seven cows, four pigs, two dogs and four slaves. While the value of the regular farm animals is of course known to me, I have listed a nominal value for each slave, based on its age, experience, breeding potential (including stud fees from other owners) and obedience. These are all subjective, but they do allow me to generate an actual supposed monetary value for each slave.
For example, 757-583-471 (my latest acquisition, found on this site) is a 48-year-old college lecturer. It was owned by another master for a number of years and I am having to retrain it now. However, it is a good breeder (as both a bitch and a stud), very obedient and willing to learn, despite its age. I have therefore taken all these factors into account and given it a stock value of £250, somewhat less than one of my adult pigs.

A slaves value is proportionate to its worth as a servant. The only time a real value or "price" Would be how much a slave was worth if it were sold at an Auction or just rented to a Mistress or Master |

My slave is the single most valuable possession I own. I do not let her know that though. From her point of view she ranks fairly low.
