The reason I ask this is my 'slave' and I were having a discussion and he was convinced that there was no difference in a sub and a slave.. I disagree with him. We have a unique relationship as he has MD, so we do use a safe word.. but I give him permission to (although he has never had to use it) He lives to serve and please me and is collared and tagged by me. I think our relationship lays somewhere right in between due to his illness and the fragilness of it. Any views on this would be great. Thanks

to me, subs have a say in what goes on whereas a slave gives up all rights to their Master. There's a big difference between them.
This website was an interesting read for me...

As a slave it is owned property. it does not have any right to choose to submit to it's Owner's demands. 996-150-083 - Slave and owned property of Mistress Tamara. it exists only to worship and obey it's Owner, Mistress Tamara. Severe discipline is a necessary part of it's slave training - both daily maintenance discipline as well as corrective discipline.

I would have to say that there is definitly a difference. I am a sub, but not a slave. My mentality does not fit that of a slave. I follow my Lady as a packmate follows the alpha of the pack. I am definitly the subordinate member and have no desire to be the alpha. I only must have an alpha that demonstrates the ability to be in control of me. For I cannot be trusted to operate in society under my own auspices. A dog on a leash can still bite your hand off.

There is definitely a difference. A submissive is allowed to have limits and assert them in the relationship through the use of a safeword/s. A slave has no rights to anything (even the clothing on their back), except for what is granted to them.
i would say your slave is a slave and not a submissive. he only has a safeword because You granted it due to his medical condition. To my mind, him being fragile has nothing to do with him being a slave. he serves in every way he can.
What do people think of submissive slaves? i consider myself a submissive slave because though i am slave, i still have the desire to serve and please as a submissive, that is the mentality of a submissive. owned property of Sir Trisk
Being your slave what should I do but tend Upon the hours, and times of your desire?

A slave is always someone who is owned. In our terms, slaves are submissives (ie people who submitted in a consensual way) who are owned.
This just shifts the question onto "What is the difference between being owned and non-owned?" of course

Submissives are as beer, slaves are as ale.
All ale is beer, but not all beer is ale. |
