Dear Folks:

Joshua and I are in the process of finishing up our book of questions and answers about M/s relationships. We'd like to put an appendix in the back of resources - books, mostly, and some websites if they are really good. If anyone has any to recommend, please let us know.

We're looking for resources that you've actually read and found helpful, and are willing to say a few words about why and how they were useful. Not just "You might try x, I found it in a search of Amazon."

We are *not* looking for porn or SM resources. We are looking for books and websites that actually are useful for full-time M/s folks on a day-to-day basis.

We *are* looking for resources on:

M/s theory

What it's like to be a full-time slave, for real

Practical household management

Service

Manners and etiquette

Non-corporate leadership

Assertiveness and "how to ask for what you want", especially (but not limited to) ones aimed at women

Neuro-linguistic programming, basic beginnings

Reading body language

Time management

Anything else that you've found useful.

Thanks!

Hm. This is probably not at all what you're looking for, but i would say for me Plato, Epictetus, Sartre, maybe some Aristotle or Kant . . . or whoever, any philosopher who tackles ethics, really, to start thinking about what happiness is and some critical thinking skills to evaluate what i really wanted out of life and what it would mean for me to live ethically. To think about power dynamics in a real-world framework, Foucault, bell hooks, Patrick Califia, writings about radical feminism, classism, racism, homophobia, domestic violence, etc. etc. etc.--all the many many power imbalances in our society. If you want i can find some of the specific authors i read years ago. Then, some of the M/s stuff has helped for thinking about this particular dynamic more specifically. Story of O and the Marketplace books, obviously. During the first several months of being collared i was constantly sending links of yours, Josh's, and Carolyn's (Yarakot) posts here, and kaya's blog (underhishand.com) to Master, saying, "what do You think about this?" and the dialogs those started helped us both, i think--it would have been cool if i'd found them before being collared. But that's me--i like a good foundation of theory before i try anything in real life. :)
