I just wanted to comment on a few things within this thread. Sir Seven is absolutely correct with his knowledge of the California medical marijuana program. the one thing about getting the cards or what most people call them is scripts, is that they go not to their own physician but to doctors that they pay a few hundred dollars to. I do know people within my family that have done this. They also feel that means that they can grow what they want and smoke what they want. Legally there are limits on that, but again something that can and does get abused. my Master nor I use any drugs but I do have a strong opinion that my Master allows me to share about this subject. The only thing that I have always felt is that with marijuana being grown in the ground being an herb versus man made drugs, I feel that marijuana would be the better choice and the reprocutions are not as bad. i am not an advocate for any drug use. this is just posting to what i have seen. just my opinion.

This is going to be an essay. Sorry.

A few months back, I caught a snippet of a conversation that a radio host was having with a woman who has been smoking pot every day for 29 years. He asked her, “Do you think it's made you any, you know, dumber?”

Her response was a brilliantly phrased, “Heh.” Not an ironic sort of “heh,” no, and not a giggly sort either. It was most definitely an, “I'm too stupid to realize you just insulted me” type of “heh.” And then the host says, “She's calling up high, it's like a tease.”

If that wasn't bad enough, TEACHERS are getting in on it, too. My cousin's history teacher told his class that if they had to use drugs, marijuana was the drug to pick because it was the “least dangerous.”

“Least dangerous” is NOT equal to “safe” and the fact that people are so willing to equate the two truly saddens me. Furthermore I'm convinced that it isn't really less dangerous at all. It's just DIFFERENTLY dangerous. So let's take a look at the ways that marijuana is NOT “safe” in the least. Some medically backed up facts:

~Smoking marijuana damages cells in the bronchial passages, leading to a decrease in the lungs' ability to fight off fungi, bacteria, and other microorganisms, which itself can lead to pulmonary issues from cough to pneumonia, emphysema, and other respiratory problems.

~Regular use can lead to a weakened immune system overall by weakening T-cells and macrophages, which can be DEADLY for people with already weakened immune systems, including cancer patients, organ transplant patients, and HIV patients – did you know, by the way, that it can help take it from HIV to full-blown AIDS?

~Marijuana smoke contains many of the same carcinogenic agents as cigarette smoke, primarily tar, which is actually FOUR TIMES AS STRONG in marijuana as in cigarettes, which makes one exposed to the toxins from the tar FOUR TIMES AS OFTEN.

~Marijuana use can also lead to mental disorders. A recent (less than two years old) British study has indicated that it can cause panic attacks. Some of the other brain-related issues it can cause are: *acute toxic psychosis (Let's think about this. You go literally insane because of the toxins in the drug.) *flashbacks *delusions *depression *hallucinations *paranoia *depersonalization *aggressiveness

~It can also trigger mental issues, such as bipolar psychosis and schizophrenia, in people who are predisposed to them.

~Short term mental effects include impaired perception, judgment (driving while high is similar to driving while drunk; also, have You ever BEEN in the passenger seat of a car whose driver was high? It's a mistake I'll never make again!), thinking, memory, and learning.

~There is also a list of effects categorized by the American Psychiatric Association's DSM IV: *Cannabis Intoxication, consisting of impaired motor coordination, impaired judgment, anxiety, sensation of slowed time, social withdrawal, and perceptual disturbances (hallucinations) *Cannabis Intoxication Delirium, consisting of all of the above PLUS memory deficit and disorientation *Cannabis Induced Psychotic Disorder, Delusions *Cannabis Induced Psychotic Disorder, Hallucinations *Cannabis Induced Anxiety Disorder

~Marijuana use can also lead to increased risks in cardiovascular issues – heart attacks and disease, namely.

~Marijuana IS ADDICTIVE. Millions of people enter treatment for marijuana addiction every year.

~Marijuana can affect one's fertility rate and can cause damage to unborn babies whose mothers smoke it while pregnant.

All that said: It is entirely Your right to decide whether or not to use recreational drugs. It is not up to me or anyone else to vilify You for exercising that right. Just, for Your sake and that of Your pet, please be careful and informed.

LOL wow, based on the responses I don't think it's safe to talk about what my Owner and I get up to! Drugs are drugs, they're a personal choice... Anyway lets not get into the ethics of drug taking... Lets say... We have been known to dabble in various substances and it's always been great, always enhanced everything. Has nothing to do with our level of intimacy -- our most intimate moments are a combination of those done both sober and "not" ;)

I don't think many people on here will admit to partaking, but I can tell the OP that I know plenty of couples - kinky and vanilla - who, at times, partake and enjoy. I don't think it's anything to do with the lifestyle ha ha but it's fun taking those sorts of things up a notch sometimes.

Hi all , whew ! drugs ! i think most people can only speak from personal experience (or should) i've been on the planet a while and have ,mostly in my youth tried most drugs out of curiosity more than anything else, certain drugs seem to me to be more instantly addictive than others such as cocaine speed etc both of which i tried and stopped after trying them once because i found them to be a rather pleasant experience and did'nt take much to realise to continue would be folly, marijuana seems to be more socially acceptable almost akin to a rite of passage amongst teens and does not seem (to me) to be as instantly addictive (by addictive i mean something i would like to continue with on an a daily basis like chocalate which i am addicted to but i can handle it !). however it is readily available and over time and sustained use there is a marked effect (being stoned), what any individual chooses to do is there buisness and and if it works good luck but there are pros and cons for any drug legal or not ,if you have constant pain from injury or age related illness you may choose to take ibruprofen ,there are quite major side effects from that drug if taken regularly and marijuana may be a good alternative, thankfully i dont have to make that choice. Legal recreational drugs, alchohol is poison basically so not the best thing to enjoy with dinner imagine your vino with a big skull and cross bones on :-),

Cigerettes,c'mon really? possibly the foulest invention of all time ,(i am down to five a day).

Any of the above drugs has the capacity to alter the way you think move and speak and at the very least is going to leave a nasty taste in your mouth ,in my opinion and its mine not a consensus by any means :-) drugs are bad ,

Illegal drugs are y'know erm illegal ! you are taking a risk of prosecution everytime you imbibe not worth it .

legal drugs make a hell of a lot of money for the government in taxes and a cold chardonnay tastes nice :-).

To sum up me ramble make your own choices dont regret them but dont expect anyone else to agree we all have our own views of the world ,hey i like 1980's glam metal bands how sick is that !!!!!!

sometimes my Master allows me to have some alcohol when He does ... but not very often because He wants me to have my wits about me

Before my relationship with the man I am currently serving I would occasionally use marijuanna. I liked to relax and in casual relationships it personally enhansed sexual experiances for me. I would use it about three times a year. I recently had the opportunity to do this with my partner and am now sold on never ever ever!!! doing it again. It was the worst experiance i have had. The depth of our relationship and nature of our connection was momentarily severed that night. It was so sad for me. rather than being able to lay next to my Dom and enjoy the privledge of his touch I was uncomfortable and scared. I had never experianced a moment with him that left me so completely unsure of myself (except for our first meeting cuz he knocked me off my feet). It was all in my head and all because of a drug. I realized that nothing on earth that i can take is gonna make our connection or relationship better than it is. I am so lucky and blessed to be counted as his for now and our real life is so much more of a rush and joy than any drug high. Jewel

I myself am very open towards a selection of recreational substances used smartly and in moderation. I have smoked marijuana a few times, but it wasn't really my thing. On the rare occasions I do indulge in substances, they are usually of the 'Designer Drugs' category. However, I must disagree with you here just a little bit. Marijuana smoking IS harmful to you. The important factor here is that it ISN'T as harmful as a cigarette or other tobacco-based product. In reality, smoking the "herb" is about as harmful to you as a beer or two, though they have much different effects and harm different systems entirely. The statement about driving is what really made me reply: of course marijuana impairs your driving. Everything does to some degree (except smart pills / mild amphetamines, but that's beyond the scope of this debate). Even cell phone use impairs us to the level of legally drunk (http://kwc.org/mythbusters/2005/06/mythbusters_k.... Like I said at the beginning though, I am on your side of this issue. I see absolutely nothing wrong with a little chemicals in the body, as long as you don't go overboard.

Add a little SUBSTANCE to your life ;P

Marijuana is not harmful for you. It does not impair your driving, your basic decision making skills, or make you aggressive. It makes you feel good, makes you hungry, and makes you lazy. You can feel free to prove me wrong. The only reason marijuana gets such negative press is from public ignorance and the shockwave of William Randolf Hearst's hemp smear campaign to keep making ridiculous money and clear-cut forests. Look it up, this is not hippie propaganda.

My next comment will appear to be rather ageist, please, understand it is just an observation.

Most respondents in this thread who are 'pro' chemical use, are in the sub 25 age bracket. Are their views simply due to the fact that they're still growing up and learning how to behave like a responsible adult?

Simply put, I'd never be able to trust a Top who was chemically altered. As people have attested above, you never know what a person's reaction will be to a chemical.

Perception is altered with most forms of legal and illegal drug use, not an ideal situation for somebody who wishes to engage in BDSM play. Then there is the legal responsibility. Honestly, how masterly would you feel when you're in cuffs and facing charges for a silly little need to engage in chemical play?

And for those Tops who encourage their subs to partake, would you feel guilty if you realised your prolonged encouragement was the sole reason for a slave's dependence on a chemical? Chemical dependence can destroy lives; psychologically, financially, morally, legally.

Personally I feel like it's not worth the risk. Experiment with whatever you like outside of the D/s relationship but once you bring it into our dynamic it gets a little riskier than a lot of people would like to believe.

Ahhhh nope, my Owner is 10yrs older than me. He's in his 30's and has no issue with it ;) And, being in the under 25's category... Define responsible adult? Are adults not allowed to indulge? In which case... I know many people who are two to three times my age who are not adults ha ha ha.
