Oh yes! My Lady always says "Slave must be properly looked after and must not be damaged." That is an instruction to her slave as well as to others. Treats are obviously rewards but sometimes, when punishment is deserved, - and expected, - I get given a treat of some sort such as being taken out to tea or similar. The shame at knowing this is not deserved is punishment enough. It is very subtle psychology. There is one other thing comes to mind. Not all Masters/Mistresses have slaves as drudges. Sometimes they have a slave to lavish affection on whether wanted or not. I suppose the classic example would be the pet cat that lets you stroke/cuddle it though it would far rather be elsewhere. Seeing him enjoying them, and his gratitude are extremely rewarding. That's the affectionate part of it. There's also a control aspect with certain gifts; for example I might give him particular clothes and tell him when to wear them. And of course, gifts can be rewards for good behavior. 10 Apr 09, 11:28 PM blue_girl 2 yrs my Master is incredibly generous as long as i'm VERY well-behaved. The treats i get, though, are typically designed to enhance His pleasure--like sleeping in bed with Him, for example, rather than on the floor in the closet, as He prefers i'm nearby and fully accessible. Or He'll take me to the salon to have my hair done, but He'll choose the style, etc. Or even coming onto the boards here at SD to learn, share, and exchange ideas. Obviously, i enjoy these things, too, but that's not why He does them. It isn't about me. (Some days, i have to chant this in my head over and over again, but those days are fewer than they used to be.) i'm discovering that my greatest pleasure is truly to be found in serving and pleasing Him, and His praise and approval are more valuable to me than anything He could buy. On the other hand, if/when i displease Him in some way, any and all privileges may be revoked. And for me, everything is a privilege; i'm not entitled to anything, and i have no rights beyond having my basic needs met (essential nutrition, basic shelter, essential health care, necessary transportation). i've learned to be very thankful for the little privileges He grants me--like sweetener and fruit in my morning bowl of oatmeal, a pat of butter on my baked potato, or a warm sweater on a cold winter morning. ~blue~ Edited 10 Apr 09, 11:29 PM by blue_girl 11 Apr 09, 12:43 AM 976-188-983 US(ID), 3 yrs When the money is available Master always buys me things,whether I ask for them or not. Usually things that I say are cute or pretty but sometimes just little things that bring a smile to my face. Hehe. My Master is always getting me things whether they are new shoes, stockings, all sorts of things. Some others have called me spoiled but I have recently come to understand that that is not a bad thing.
