I saw this comment on here today, on a thread about submissvie or slave identities.
I don't get very hung up on definitions or identities. I am a slave, i am happy with that - if Master choses to change my title to helicopter, then i guess i'll be a helicopter, and be happy with that.
but even if i did get hung up on definitions - i am a slave. yes, i have no rights. true i have no limits, no boundries. Master is the center of my universe.
i absolutely do not have the right to end this relationship, beyond a simple, 'please release me, Sir', which He is unlikely to agree to.
BUT- i am incredibly happy. I like the fairytale, everyday.
So, what is this tendency of slaves to go around spouting 'be careful what you wish for'? or maybe i am the only one who is deleriously happy with my station in life? |

Maybe other slaves are jealous of what you have? Or maybe they hear too much about the negative stuff?
I am glad to hear that you are happy and living a fairytale. It is nice to have happy endings in slavery.
best wishes,
slave emma

Agreed. The boards may become a bit to saccharine if all that was posted was "I am deleriously happy, I am so happy as a slave"
Glad to hear others are in the happy boat "You don't love a girl because she's beautiful. You love a girl because she sings a song that only you can understand"

Personally, that tendency comes from seeing others who are inexperienced and (imho) way too enthusiastic, who latch on to the fantasy aspects of the M/s lifestyle without really thinking through all the implications. "I want to be a total slave with no limits" gets said an awful lot, and it'd be unfair to suggest that people don't mean it when they say it. They really do mean it, most of the time. But all too often it turns out that they want to be a total slave with no limits... except for those limits which they either haven't thought of, or think are self-explanatory. Then they get a nasty surprise.
My own experience has taught me that having to carry out any kind of service when, for whatever reason, you really, really don't want to, is very different to the fantasy. (It didn't stop me, but it was a hard, hard lesson to learn...) Making the move from self-centred, egotistical fantasy to selfless slavery isn't, when it comes down to it, what a lot of submissives actually want to do.
i'm sure you're not alone in being happy with your situation, but it's a situation that not everyone can adapt to. Which is why i've done my share of telling people to be careful what they wish for. |

I think people have a tendency to mutter darkly "be careful what you wish for" about many things. So many people would rather be careful what they wish for and try to do so they don't ... what? experience failure? get in deeper than they think they can handle? experience something that completely changes their life?
I prefer to wish hard. I find it much more satisfying and like you, I'm deliriously happy with my life, a life I would never have found through being careful.
Krista No feminist thinks men and women are exactly the same. But what we reject is the notion that the difference between men and women is that men are human and women are objects.

Taking the phrase alone, out of all context, I see two different meanings. A negative nature of this phrase places emphasis is on being cautious because there may be danger.
However, I also see this as a very positive phrase. I know if I were given three wishes I would be very careful for what I wished for! I would want to use them as wisely as possible.

Add one more to the fairy tale happiness boat. Not that it's always flowers, chocolate, puppies, kittens, and rainbows. It's about floating above limits, self-discovery, feeling good about achievements, never knowing what tomorrow will bring. It's about knowing I have someone to care for me and make my decisions for me no matter what, and as long as I abide by his rules that my life can be beautiful and structured. Every decision you have ever made has lead you up to this moment. So essentially my view is this...
"There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking. This understanding extends to everything."
-Hagakure
....There are those of us who know from the beginning that we will get wet, it is not an easy life, but we expect it, learn from it. There are those of us who have a fantasy picture in our minds that was not well thought out and now that it's raining, they are trying to get out of the water.
Sorry for the morning ramble, I haven't had my energy drink or morning whipping. "Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage"
