Assertive submission (2)

Has anyone come across the terms "assertive submission" or "active submission"? I have been told that i'll receive some training in this and be expected to follow it afterwards, and i'd like to know a bit more about it in advance. Google search doesn't throw much up of help, but i may be search incorrectly. The only hints i've been given are that "it's the opposite of passive submission" (i could have guessed that) and "look up the Romans and the Greeks". If anyone can point me at some resources that would fill me in a bit, i'd be grateful. |

I have not seen this used as a specific term with a specific meaning. However, were I to hazard a guess, I'd say that what they're talking about may be what we would call "proactive service" as opposed to "reactive service". The two exist on a continuum; reactive service is heavily supervised and micromanaged, with the servant doing only and exactly what they are told, without making assumptions. In proactive service, the servant is encouraged to learn the way things should be done (whether through training or observation), do that without being told, and extrapolate from a given situation what ought to be done without needing much guidance.
Some dom/mes like one, some the other, some go back and forth.

Thanks Raven,
moon was really wondering about this topic also. She had been curious, (with her in-experience) if it meant being submissive in a more proactive way in the sense of doing things in a very enthusiastic way, while still being micro managed. Full of enthusiasm and not having to be asked to show that eagerness. The slave or sub really showing the happiness and joy of service in the particular order that was given. Yet that could always be expected in a sense she realizes while pondering this. Similar to what you say but of course your answer makes more sense. moon A leaf fluttered in through the window this morning, as if supported by the rays of the sun, a bird settled on the fire escape, joy in the task of coffee, joy accompanied me as I walked. ~ Anais Nin
