To stop the hijacking of Coyote's kitten's thread on first conversations, let's move the discussions of geek meetings over here, shall we?
I'm based in California, NorCal/Central Coast area. My Master is in Tennessee. I'm willing to travel most anywhere if it happens at a time I can afford to (still in college, graduating this spring, so I can't really take time to go larking off to get geeky with people out of state).
Oh, and what games do you lot play? Master plays D&D, ShadowRun, Warlord (TCG), GuildWars (MMORPG), and most anything for PS2, PS3, or Xbox. I play D&D (albeit not as often or as well), Warlord, and some games for Xbox, and am trying to get my computer capable of running MMOs so we can play GuildWars together. He has some history of his family being in the SCA; I've never gotten involved. I'm a massive LOTR geek, too.
So...whatcha wanna do? - Mynx, who is no longer kidding.

Well cost and health is a factor, but N. Calif isn't too far from U/us. W/we live in Arizona (i was born in calif myself and have many relatives there). It'll be up to surgeries doctors appointments and money if W/we can go anywhere (not to mention Master's mood.)
What i play? Well i've done some D&D though i was still a level one character (i've just never been around geeky enough people to get to play i've always wanted to and got several of the books dice etc.. but anyways). i have lots of Magic The Gathering TCG and play that. Collect lots of others but really haven't played them too much but am willing to learn just about any game. That munchkins game sounds good i saw it at a gaming convention and was going to get it, then realized i had no one to play with
Speaking of gaming conventions, might that be a good way to get together? Go to one of the gaming Cons where there are tables and all set up for role playing or card playing and Y/you can have Y/your Own table and so forth, not to mention get supplies, stay overnight, be in costume and so on? i know LepriCon is coming up in May in Arizona and i've been to a few of those.

(actually have asked my Master to take me here for my Birthday later in May, He's never been and i'm trying to convert Him to my evil gaming geekiness.) |

I live in Memphis, Tennessee. (Where is your Master?) Is there any possibility that you could travel to MAsT in Washington DC? I really think that this will be the M/s party of the year. Geeking it out can be nothing but good. First week in March my owner and I will be travelling to Chicago, though I don't know that this will do anyone much good since he is going there to do research and when he works he is a monomaniacal fiend. (In a good way.)
There is practically no game or game genre we have not played before. I've been gaming for somewhere around 28 years. He's been wargaming for more than 30 years. (He started quite young.) We tend to prefer strategic or tactical board games, but we have played RPGs, card games, miniatures, and Eurogames. As far as RPGs go, our favourites are Traveller and the GURPS series. We also like Paranoia. Our favourite card games are Illuminati and Munchkin (though Munchkin only with new people or new Munchkin packs). He dislikes games that do not allow direct competition with other players (Alhambra, for example). As to strategic games, we prefer multi-player games that have a diplomacy phase or multiplayer games that are really good simulations of historical wars. I love air combat games, which he also likes, but I think I like them a little more than he does.

My owner also has history of his family being very active in the SCA, though my owner has never even been tempted to put on funny costumes and talk forsoothly.
Meet you guys, of course! Hopefully at MAsT DC.

It's been a while since I did any tabletop gaming, but I still have my RPGA "Grand Master" card- took some awards at a couple of Gen Cons many years ago. Nowadays most of my gaming is online; I played Dark Age of Camelot for a long time as part of the Shadowclan Kobold Horde, I'm currently playing Eve and I'm in the Lord of the Rings Online beta test. (For extra geek cred, I worked for Mythic Entertainment for a while.)
There's an Age of Conan MMO coming out later this year which looks like it's going to be incredible. And all characters supposedly start the game as slaves...
I'd love to get in a session of Paranoia or some such thing with you guys in DC. Call of Cthulhu is another great game for one-shots, since if your character is still sane at the end of a session you're obviously not playing right.

DC would probably be do-able for us as well, and July might just be enough notice for us to schedule it. Anything much further or sooner than that gets a little tricky for juggling the kids.
We would be down with pretty much anything, but given the diverse levels of experience of the crowd and the likely desire to chat a lot, something like a card game might be a better start? I would personally love to see this bunch play a game of 1,000 Blank White Cards. *g* |

my Master and i can't make it to DC, money, time etc... Wish W/we could, but that won't work for U/us. Good for all of Y/you who are going though. Maybe could get together some other time?

I'd love Call of Cthulhu. However, we'd have to find someone willing to GM. I think I would be too intimidated to GM in a room filled with dominants and my owner just laughed when I suggested that he GM.

My owner suggests that if we are going to take over a gaming convention and make a mini-M/s Gaming convention, we should do it at Origins. Though this year there is no way we could go to both DC MAsT and Origins in the same month.

I would love to get in on this, and I can only assume Master would have an absolute ball. He goes to the local gaming convention every year. We live in the cincinnati area, but traveling just isn't possible for us, especially in the summer months due to where we work. Selling cars and waiting tables at a riverfront restaurant means our money is earned predominantly in the summer. -pouts- Questing Bear's lullabelle
