Ownership and M/s Books

The Slave Register publishes this list of non-fiction Ownership and Master/slave books, sorted according to Amazon.com sales, with accompanying comments by Amazon's users. For a general BDSM bestseller list, please see The BDSM Book List which includes books on physical techniques and some M/s fiction.

1. The Control Book by Peter Masters

A few weeks ago my girlfriend, was at a New York City diner after a TES function chatting with some of her fellow kinksters and one of them had a well loved, dog eared, and annotated copy of a little paper back called The Control Book sitting on the table. She asked to have a look at it, read a quick section and thought it was something I would like. That night over skype she recommended it to me. She was right. I love it! The Control Book by Peter Masters is not your typical book on dominance and submission. In my experience the typical kink book spends the bulk of its time on the what and ...

2. SlaveCraft: Roadmaps for Erotic Servitude--Principles, Skills and Tools by Guy Baldwin

i bought this book a couple of years ago, whilst on my on path/quest (call it what you will) for truth in what i was looking for. there is a lot confusion within our community about what does exist, what doesn't exist, what is real and not real, what is fact, what is fiction. for those searching for a deeper meaning to their life and a reason for the existence of the feelings they have, this book helps to clear the skies of such confusing (and often heated) discourse and help plot a course forwards. the book is clearly written, and is a real gem. if i ever had the opportunity to contact or ...

3. Erotic Slavehood: A Miss Abernathy Omnibus by Christina Abernathy

This book is a pretty good book and it goes into more details about slavehood and not just the erotic side of it. It delves into it all.
Amazon US: $15.95   Amazon UK: £11.99   Amazon FR: €13.25    Amazon DE: €12.79

4. The Compleat Slave: Creating And Living An Erotic Dominant/submissive Lifestyle by Jack Rinella

It took awhile for the item to get to me. I had it by the estimated delivery date in as much as at the very end of that timeline although I received shipping confirmation long before that. The book was in new condition as promised though and ultimately I was somewhat pleased overall. I would order from this seller again so long as I wasnt expecting the item to be delivered quickly.

5. Dear Raven and Joshua: Questions and Answers About Master/Slave Relationships by Joshua Tenpenny

"Ask Raven and Joshua" is one of the most honest, realistic, and useful works on consensual Mastery/slavery that i've read. Based on their own experience, rather than theories or fantasies, it also draws on the experience of their many friends and acquaintances in the M/s scene. It also shows their willingness to do the hard thinking and problem solving that this challenging relationship needs if it is to succeed. The Q&A format enables them to cover an extraordinary range of concerns (an index would have helped). The book is consistently readable and credible, as down to earth as the ...

6. Protocol Handbook for the Leather Slave: Theory and Practice by Robert J Rubel PhD

A decade of M/s knowledge in one book Both books Master/slave Relations: Handbook of Theory and Practice and Protocol Handbook for the Leather Slave: Theory and Practice by Robert J. Rubel, PhD Cover the same subject with a slightly different focus. It amazes me that knowledge that took me years to learn is now available in 7 easy steps. The book can accelerate your journey into BDSM by a decade.

7. The Master's Manual: A Handbook of Erotic Dominance by Jack Rinella

This book is nothing more than a list of every OTHER book the author has ever read on the subject. I expected information and instead each chapter is a review of someone else's book. Unless u need a list of bdsm books save ur money and buy something else. There are no gems of wisdom. Instead the author tells stories about what he learned from reading such and such book. It actually started to peak my interest as to whether or not the author was getting a cut of the royalties from the books he was recommending. Save ur money n look elsewhere.

8. Master/slave Relations: Handbook of Theory and Practice (M/s Studies Books) by Robert J Rubel PhD

While this might be of some use for someone young and new to the Lifestyle who does not have a good introductry book on BDSM or an interest in SM, I found it a disappiontment. It goes over old ground that others have done better like safe calls and negociations in a disorganized way. There is no significant information about SM safety. It reads like it is a series of short pieces cut and pasted from a web site. A lot of it is just common sense advice you might give a vanilla teenager before they started dating. If you are looking for Mr. Benson, you will not him here.

9. Protocols: Handbook for the female slave by Robert J. Rubel

Reviewed by Chris Phillips This book is specifically applicable to persons engaged in or considering an informed, mutually consenting Master/slave (M/s) relationship. For those reading this that are outside of the Bondage Domination Sado-Masochism (BDSM) community the book provides a practioner's view of how this dynamic is lived. For readers who are part of the BDSM community, this provides practical and personal guidelines in constructing and maintaining a vital M/s relationship. Rubel defines his terms in the introduction and provides enough background to lay a solid groundwork. Rubel ...

10. Miss Abernathy's Concise Slave Training Manual by Christina Abernathy

Is book explains the reality of D/S in a clear start-forward way, and by passes all the fluff; it's not about the sex it's about the experience. A must read for anyone interested in D/S, it explained the why of problems that I have seen in several D/S relationships (mine and others). Have I said enough, "GET THIS BOOK" if your interested in having a winning experience as a Dom or a Slave!!!!

11. Ask the Man Who Owns Him: The real lives of gay Masters and slaves by david stein

Nothing this important has been written for the gay BDSM world since the Leatherman's Handbook first came out. This book is built around a collection of interviews with gay Masters and their slaves. It provides a fascinating glimpse into a world most people never encounter except through porn - and this shows us just how far the reality is from porn. These are real men, warts and all. There is much that is extremely honest and revealing here, but nothing pornographic - it is about how these men have managed to build and maintain their lives in a way that makes sense to them. One of the ...

12. Master/slave Relations: Communications 401 (M/s Series) by Robert Rubel PhD

There is a big cry for materials about 24/7 Ds or Ms relationships now in the leather and kink communities. Thus this is a good introductory book on the ideas of communication, why if fails and how it can succeed. However this is not an advanced concept but a very basic and necessary one: you must have good communication for any relationship to succeed. There in is part of my reason for -1 star: it is basic. Secondly the vast majority of the information in this book is about any relationship not just Ds or Ms. Rubel does a great job of explaining various theories about and methods for ...

13. Training With Miss Abernathy: A Workbook for Erotic Slaves and Their Owners by Christina Abernathy

I finally got my hands on a copy of this book. It was well worth the wait. I think it has some very good exercises in it for learning to notice the small details in pleasing your Master. It was an easy read, and not a book that I will be willing to part with anytime soon if ever. It is written in a Mistress tone and if you can overcome that you will be able to enjoy this book. I had hoped it would cover more of the discipline aspects in training slaves but it is still a great book.
Amazon US: $13.95   Amazon UK: £9.99   Amazon FR: €11.59    Amazon DE: €11.43

14. Master Nage's Guide To Training Consensual Slaves by Master Nage

I thought this book excellent for its insights into the psychological drives of those who would be slaves and the responsibility that the master has towards them. I have not seen such insights in any other book on the subject so I must give it five stars for that reason.
Amazon US: $14.95   Amazon UK: £14.95   Amazon FR: €12.47    Amazon DE: €12.29

15. To Love, to Obey, to Serve: Diary of an Old Guard Slave by V. M. Johnson

As an Old Guard submissive, I was amazed by Vi Johnson's diary. I, too, am expected to keep a journal but the depth of mine does not compare to hers. Expectations differ by Dominant. While my Dominant does not expect me to construct a dungeon in Her home and would absolutely kill me if I were to turn to drugs, She does expect me to change in the ways She considers to be growth. This isn't easy but, after reading this book, I now appreciate how much my Dominant cares. I highly recommend this book to any submissive who thinks there's more to BDSM but doesn't know where to look.

16. Becoming a Slave by Jack Rinella

if Y/you want to live the lifestyle without a smile on Your face than go for it. i bought and than read a friend's e-book before i got it... and well i seek love, intense true love, even in M/s which isn't really focused on. each relationship is different, including M/s, so if you want to be a slave i'd recommend getting a date over this book. for a couple though, this would make a beautiful book to work through together. that's why it deserves my five stars.

17. Manual Creation: Defining the Structure of an M/s Household by Machele Kindle

This was written by a person that has less then 5 years of experience, who went to a week-end class and then called herself a Dominant (P.16). Now she is giving bad information about subjects that she has little real knowledge about. For example, she has a chapter on a poly house without having ever had a poly house or any kind of poly experience (P.86). The author's idea of dominance is to domineer rather than to dominate (P.218). She is quoting an "online" dominant that admits to having only one year of online experience let along no real-time experience. She is extremely inconsistent in ...

19. The Path of Service: Guideposts for Excellence (S/M Tech Educational) by Christina Parker

This workbook is a very useful and inspiring tool for anyone wishing to do some self exploration and grow as a slave. Both veterans of the M/s lifestyle, and those who are just beginning to serve can benefit from the exercises and weekly thoughts the author has included. Making the commitment to complete the weekly and monthly reading/responding/researching process will itself teach discipline and will be a service to one's current or future Owner. This is a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone who desires to lovingly serve another.
