Many say that that their communication is monitored, but I have also come across(briefly) some who say that they are breaking the rules by having ANY contact. No phone calls, letters, internet, escorted and supervised on the few occasions that they might even go outside the home. One even said that their owners had installed a webcam at the front door to check that they didn't talk to post/milk man etc. To me, this is a dangerous situation, and isolation is one of the first actions of an abuser.
