Acceptable Use Policy

The Slave Register ("TSR") is a privately owned website, operated to promote safety, community and consensuality in the D/s and M/s subcultures and the wider BDSM scene. The owner, administrators and moderators of TSR have the right to deny individuals' access to part or all of the site, for any operational reason or otherwise, at our discretion.

This document describes the minimum standards you agree to meet by using the site.

Legal Age
You may not use this site if you are under 18 years of age, or the age of majority where you are - whichever is greater.

Legality of Content
You may not access this site from jurisdictions where accessing or providing adult material is illegal. You may not upload text, pictures or other content which is likely to be legally obscene under English law. You may not upload material which uses real or imagined children, or real or imagined animals, or real or imagined corpses in erotic contexts. Furthermore, you may not link to or upload pictures of children, or adults who appear to be children, in any context, however innocent the image appears to be.

Consensuality
You may not use this site if you practice, advocate or condone any of the following activities, in the UK or other countries: rape, paedophilia and any other form of sexual abuse involving children or non-consenting adults.

Copyright
You may not use TSR to infringe other people's copyrights. By uploading text, pictures or other content to TSR, you assert that you own the copyright, have permission from the copyright owner or the material's copyright is in the public domain. By uploading content to public areas of TSR, you grant TSR a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to make your material available in public via WWW, email, RSS or any other protocol, until you explicitly remove your material from the website.
Material contributed by other users of the site remains under their own copyright, and you must obtain their permission before reproducing it elsewhere.
Unless otherwise stated, material produced by TSR which you download may only be printed, engraved, stored or otherwise reproduced for personal use. Certificates, barcodes and other designs related to individual profiles may only be reproduced by third-parties if the work is commissioned by the owner of that profile.
In any event, written permission must always be obtained before reproducing the TSR shield logo used by TSR's Slave Register.
You may not use TSR to publish private correspondence without the sender's permission, or publish private correspondence from TSR elsewhere without the sender's permission.

Data Protection and Privacy
TSR does not collect "identifying information" about users, as defined by the Data Protection Act in the UK. You may not display identifying information (eg full names, addresses, telephone numbers etc) about yourself or other people on the site (eg on the web boards or profiles.) We recommend that you use a nickname, alias or handle when using TSR and other publically visible sites, and do not reveal identifying information to people you do not know and trust. Please see the Personals help page for more safety / privacy advice.

Use of the site
You may not use TSR to commit crimes under English law, or expose TSR to civil liabilities to other people. You may not use TSR to defame, harrass, threaten or stalk other individuals.

"Flaming"
Robust debate is a feature of many adult internet environments. However, you may not use TSR to make verbal attacks on other named users, and falsely attributing statements or actions to other people, especially when presented as direct quotations, is totally unacceptable. Please do not attempt to use TSR for "name and shame" campaigns, as moderators cannot distinguish between genuine complaints and malicious smear campaigns.

"Sock puppets" and scamming
You may not maintain multiple profiles on TSR without acknowledging your ownership of them in their profile descriptions. This is intended to stop sock puppets rather than additional profiles for events, businesses etc.
If you display a personal ad, you must not display a false statement about your country of residence. For example, saying you live in the United Kingdom when in fact you live in Nigeria.

"Passing off" and "Bullshitting"
A wide range of opinions about D/s, M/s and other forms of ownership relationships are legitimately posted on the TSR web boards. However, outright deception about your level of experience, or the nature of your previous or current relationships, will not be tolerated. One common example is trying to pass online or long-distance relationships off as 24/7 co-resident M/s by carefully worded posts.

Pro-top/bottom services and "BDSM for Money"
No services which are legally classified as prostitution may be advertised on The Slave Register
TSR is a free service provided to the "non-professional" Master/slave and D/s subcultures. As such, the promotion of services which involve doing BDSM sessions for money is neither welcome nor encouraged. However, due to the misleading way in which services have been indirectly advertised in the past, such direct or indirect advertising may be posted to profiles provided the poster has clearly indicated their association with pro-top/bottom services in their profile settings before advertising such services.

Other commercial advertising
Please do not promote your business on the web boards of TSR:
(1) You're replying to a query someone else (not connected to you or your business) has made about where to buy specific products or services.
(2) You put a link to your business, event, eBay listings etc in the signature of your posts, and you make on-topic posts.
Clearly, it's in your interest not to annoy other TSR users by spamming the boards or weblogs with ads.
You may not use TSR to promote third party sites or businesses in return for any monetary or in kind reward. This includes links including affiliate scheme references, links in return for competition entry or links to Top Lists.
